Hey Guys,

As title, My system is as follows:

Intel Q6600 (2.4) CPU with Zalman CNPS9500
Abit IP35 Pro (Latest Bios Version)
OCZ 4 GB (2x2GB) Reaper Ram (Currently at CL 4-4-4-15 / 2.1Volt)
nVidia Gefore 8800 GTX 768 with Thermalright HR-03 w/80mm fan
CoolerMaster Cosmos Case (Lots of 120mm Fans)
1000 Watt Modular PSU (Cant remember the make but its a good one)
Windows Vista Ultimate w/sp1

So, I have searched and searched but cant find anything because theres so many variants to what I am trying to find. I would like to clock my system a bit and realise its not just a case of entering what settings others have used as its pretty much system specific but was hoping to get some rough settings I could start with. My system is rock solid atm. Looking to get something in the region of 3ghz if possible.

Anyways, let me know what you think and if you can help. Loads of Thanks in advance.

EDIT Just realised I have put this in the wrong section. If a mod happens to pass could they move it to the Over clocking section. Thanks :)

Hi Mate,

Is this what you mean:

:)

Oh hang on, that bloody Intel cpu throttle thing is messing the reading up. Is that a problem and should I disable it. Cheers

I have the same board and a Q6600.
This is my second Q6600, first was a 1.275 VID, the new one is a 1.225 VID, the difference is night and day, both clock high, but the higher VID chip requires more volts to acheive the same results, these means then more heat, not good on an air cooling setup.
Having said that, a Q6600 should easily clock to 3ghz on that board, just change the U guru Bios settings to Manual and change the FSB to 333 and save and exit, if it fails, up the volts a notch.

Hi Mate,

Just tried that, even took the Core Volts to 1.4575 and still wouldn't boot :(
To Be Honest, I am not sure what voltage I need to change in order to get this to work. It was the Core Voltage one wasn't it. I didn't know what else to change.

Thanks Again..

EDIT To Add these. Photo's of my Bios as it is atm:

The clock speed that shows 2.520ghz at the top in the first bios picture was me messing around, managed to get it to reboot at 300 fsb but no further.

Set the FSB 333mhz
Set Multi to 8.
Make sure your ram is not running above its rated speed or setting.

Change the CPU Core voltage to 1.305v
Set DDR2 Voltage to match your memory spec (2.1v?)
Set CPU VTT Voltage to 1.23
Set MCH 1.25 Voltage to 1.29
Set ICH 1.05 Voltage to 1.09
Set the ICHIO to 1.55

[edit] this will will not push the chip faster but will test the speed, if it work then change the mulit to 9 and try again.

Hey Mate,

Tried those and its sitting at 3006mhz. I had to adjust the voltage a little on the Core, had to take that to 1.3575 and also raised the CPU/Ram so that it runs at 1333/800 by adjusting the setting to 1:1.20. It seems okay at the moment but going to have abash on Crysis and Bioshock and see what happens. Will report back shortly if I haven't fried my rig :p

Thanks for your help mate

I've got an old B3 Q6600 sat at 3ghz at the moment using a x9 multi and a FSB of 335mhz.

Mines hitting about 45-48 idle at that speed which isn't too bad - fastest I've had it was 3.2Ghz as in sig but that was toasty :/

Well, hammered it on Crysis and Bioshock last night with absolutly no problems what so ever:

All running better than ever so many thanks UKD, appreciate the help loads mate

give 9X400 at 1:1 a go

what i run mine on 1.405v in bios... ive got same cpu/ram/mobo as you ehhehehe :D

except ram voltage and cpu voltage i dont change any other voltages :D

right now my cpu temp is 33 31 26 28 and thats with 1.6ghz (speedstep) due to me reset my CMOS recently and not bothered to put back my OC's

what i mean by that is that your temps for 3ghz idle look good my 3.6ghz idle temps are around 44 43 40 39 or sumthing...

Hi Plat,

Will run the settings as they are for a few more days to make sure everything I use works fine (Needed for Work such as Adobe CS3/Lightroom etc) then will give these settings a go that you mention. Thanks Mate :)
