I have a 2002 focus zetec, and when i bought it the seats have alsorts of what look to be spilled drink stains. after spilling a tiny bit of coke on the seat, I can see how easy they stain...

I bought an interior cleaner from hellfords that said it would do the job, and it just made it worse.

My mum then advised me just to use warm water and a cloth, with the tiniest amount of washing up liquid in it. Didn't really help..

1) Can the car seat covers be removed?

2) If not, whats the best way to clean my seats?

Come on guys, its only fair. 3 pages of the best mickey taking ever. I mean this guy wants to WASH his car seats!! In an old Ford Focus!!! it's probably done more than 50,000 miles as well ;)

In all seriousness though, removing the covers is probably more hassle than its worth. As they are cloth have you tried household stain removers?

Yeah some sort of carpet or upholstery cleaner will work. I have a can of it, it sprays out as a foam that you then scrub in

My car has silver seat belts...nightmare to keep clean. Infact nothing i bought touched them for ages until i tried a bucket of warm water, couple of bold 2in1 tablets crushed up and allowed to disolve...bought them up a treat.

So maybe worth a shot? after all they are designed to remove stains from fabric. Washing up powder...the ultimate car upholstery cleaner lol

Nah not yet, I was going to do this next but before I went out and laid down a few quid for a pot of cleaner I wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations

hmm i had sweat marks on the siderest of my car (white) and autoglym, interior shampoo got it out, or you could rent a wet vav machine that should do it.

No, Foxy-poo made a thread asking about removing an imprint in his leather, had the **** taken, and it's gotten old already ;)

Haha okay makes sense :D Anyway thanks for the advice guys I'm going to pick up some carpet/upholstery cleaner tommorrow and try it out.

The guys on the Skoda forum go nuts over Shout stain remover which is available from the cleaning isle in any supermarket for less than two squid.

I've used it on a small stain and it worked a treat. Need to do the whole of my drivers seat after jumping in wet and muddy after a bike ride and forgetting that my seat cover was in the boot :o

If you do go the stain remover route I'd go back over it with some AG interior shampoo.

this sort of thing is easily overlooked

The major chemical companies that develop household cleaning stuff pour millions each year into research and development for new cleaning products

however, none of them are ever targeted at car owners though. As a result, when people buy something to clean there car with, they end up with autoglymn interior cleaner or whatever.

But theres a wealth of excellent cleaners at your local supermarket, without the car care price tags, that are just as good

Myself ? ive gone mad over flash clean and care with bicarbonate of soda. Cleans everything, and i mean everything. Ive used it on our leather sofa, on my car upholstery, on the patio furniture etc..

Ive not found a thing it cant clean. its also a very good degreaser for door shuts as well ! I stepped in a puddle in works car park the other day and got a footprint on the car mat. When i got home i gave it a blast with the clean and care, and it brought it up likew new again. Better still, it was only £1 last week at sainsburys !

Most inground stains wont come out, I wouldnt remove the seat covers, get some Daisy all purpose cleaner, put it in a squirty bottle and spray it on the seat and leave it for a few mins. Then just scrub it with a stiff brush and wipe off with a damp cloth.Make sure you spray most of the seat, this way you wont get water marks on the seat.

I appreciate that you are just returning fire due to the imprint in the leather thread, but are you gonna do it in every single psot from now on Fox? I have to say its getting a bit tired to see you do it in every thread.

Anyway, back on topic. A friend of mine used to own a Fiesta with 'truffle' (beige) interior cloth seats. He also had several stains on them from drinks and stuff. When he sold it, he hired a vax cleaner or something from B&Q...not sure how it works, think you jsut rub a special substance into the seat which brings the dirt out and then vacuum it away and leave to dry. Anyway, it did an amazing job and brought the seats up better than they ahd ever been, was well worth the hire cost. Ill try and get more information from him for you.
