2008 Singapore GP - Race 15/18

I dont care if Trulli had of been punished or not tbf,i just want some sort of consistency like most people.

Agreed.

In my eyes, the fine was for crossing the white line/not entering the pits correctly. The same penalty that Alonso got in Valencia, and that Baricello got today. But that view means that the offence of driving the wrong way down the track on the racing line went completely unpunnished!

I get so confused by JRS, it's not worth posting in threads here, then it is, then it isn't, then it is, then it isn't, then he wants Hamilton to lose the championship, then he wants him to win, then he wants him to lose.

You're one confusing guy. ;)

Ok so I woke up at stupid o clock this morning thinking there was a race to get up for.....and then there wasnt! :p
Ooooops! Roll on lunchtime hey :D

I dont ever recall a grid penalty being anything other than 10 places - I realise different indescretions merit different penalties but never ever seen a 3 place penalty before

You weren't expecting consistency now were you?

I don't recall a three place drop for anything either. It's normally 10 for an engine change, 10 for being on the same track as someone on a hot lap, 5 for a gearbox (see there's the consistency again - half the penalty for changing a part that's meant to last twice as long) and 5 for faffing in the pitbox.

The track was originally designed to go clockwise and at some point they changed it to counterclockwise.

So the pit lane entrance and exits are set up ok for the track to be run in the other direction.... but utterly drawers this way round.

The entrance that would be the exit if it were run the other way round would still be on the racing line.

That does explain why there is a very long white line for the entrance, but not so much for the exit. they are usually the other way round.

Not necessarily, the apex of the corner would be much later into "Turn 1" if the track was run the other way round, the drivers would be staying as far to the left as possible, before sweeping into the apex, trying to carry as much speed through the double right as possible.

So they'd be over the other side of the track from the pitlane exit, before sweeping in afterwards, which admittedly, might still cause some problems - so the pits would be best on the outside of the track. But, we're on a street track in a city centre - there are space limitations to think about.

Ok i can honestly say that as the music started for ITV F1 just now , i got goosebumps.

Shame i will hear that music 300 times between now and the end of the ******** race!!!!!!1111

Ok... Haven't checked this since yesterday... Heidfeld punished though?

This could be bad for the actual race couldn't it? A completely foolish track design causes random penalties? SIGH!

Is it me or is this forum being silly. It says theres another page of posts but I cant get to it, and when I click on the "go to first new post" button it takes me to the top of the page where comments were made at 8pm last night?

Did Blundell just say that Hamilton was slower than Massa on his qualifying lap because the circuit is quite long :-/

Well if that cocked him up for one lap then that's Lewis buggered when it comes to race distance :D
