Bored of games, anyone feel the same?

I am hoping Flashpoint 2 will be good... but I agree until new form of interactions comes out, games will most likely be the same theme apart from being prettier and faster...

I guess as least MMO has real people...

After hair-pulling moments in Gears Of War, I sat almost crying thinking "Why do I put myself through this frustration when I could just read a book and be a lot happier." Stupid game developers enticing me back with their new wares.

This is going to get me slaughtered but i'll say it anyway:

Yes, i am bored of gaming, but only on the PC. About 8 months ago i bought a PS3 and the PC has only got a look-in for the approximately 5 hours it took to complete Warhead since that day.

'But Streeteh!' I hear you cry 'Mouse and keyboard is clearly better for most games, the modding community rocks and the graphics on the PC are clearly superior!'. I couldn't agree more, the PC is the best gaming platform, so why am i bored of it? Games; there really aren't as many really great games on the PC as there used to be imo (note, i said IMO, it is after all, my opinion and everyone is welcome to disagree, just don't get angry at me for mine). I want games like Drakes Fortune, where the artistic direction, characters, locations, voice acting and storyline are truly Hollywood quality, I want games like WipEout HD that have insanely fast, frantic and addictive multiplayer and i want games like Metal Gear Solid 4 which are... well, Metal Gear Solid 4!

We used to have those, we used to have Max Payne, we used to have Dungeon Keeper, we used to have Unreal. Now we have Spore, a jumped up kid-fest (IMO!!!!1), we wait the best part of a year for Warhead, which while great, only lasted less than 10 hours, we now have MMOs which... well... i hate them, lets leave it at that.

But WHY is this happening? WHY is the best gaming platform being ignored these days? Is it piracy? The constantly changing hardware market? Or is it just easier these days to code for stand-alone machines? It's probably all of those, but until developers realize they can produce something so much better on the PC I'll be sat on my PS3, waiting, hoping, that one day i can return.

I hope everyone will still be there when i do.

Wow. Maybe it's just me, but right now, I just can't enough. So many titles I want to play/replay.

Also unless you normally play every single game that comes, why not step back a bit and play something older? Most games that have come out in the last 2-4 years can still look brilliant, especially with lots AA/AF.

Exactly how I feel. I just wish I had the time to play it all.

I used to be a complete games addict, all I ever used to do, since recently, I've just not bothered, I've probably played about a 2 hours total in the last 3 months

Nothing out there that is gripping me, consoles or PC

Feeling exactly the same as well and this is coupled with the fact that my pc has trouble playing the latest games. I can't find myself playing games for a period longer than 30 minutes these days. Play a bit of cod 4 and NFSMW occasionally but get bored after 15 mins or so.

Maybe because the game maker doing it for the love of games or his product is fast vanishing, to be replaced by people who merely work for companies doing it for the salary.

I gotta be in the mood. Whilst i think driving games with the G25 is absolutley awesome, half the time i can't be arsed and spend time browsing the net instead. Whilst i love shooting games, i haven't played warhead or even completed it yet, aint played any other game since monday. I'm one of those people who, once focused on one thing, i go the whole distance. But i gotta focus on it first otherwise like i said, "i can't be arsed"

I think It's because games are at our fingertips too easily now where as in the past maybe got a new game played it to death then got another.

Recently, there have been plenty of games out and coming out that for me are 'worth a play', but nothing that I've really, really liked - I'm not completely bored of games but I'm not as interested in them as I used to be either.

More than anything, I like games to be engrossing and tell a good story, and I haven't found any games that have done that recently.

Yep, that's why I discovered the outside world. It's awesome, especially the graphics.

The outside world is great, just you gotta have hobbys, intrests, somthing to spend some downtime on. Gaming used to do this for me, but a wave of 'meh' just hits me every time I start a game these days:(

I think I'm now really done with "serious" gaming, I've an entire shelf with good games that I can't even be bothered to start properly such as Oblivion, Bioshock, Gears of War and many more. Only games I'm looking forward to is Empires Total War and Left 4 Dead.

pc gaming is dead for me, even with the latest hardware which costs a bomb i find myself struggling to maintain any kind of interest - but i still have energy for console gaming through sports.....GTA IV is still a blast too.

can't wait for NBA 2K9 and the 2 new footie games on the consoles but FPS and the like ...they're just bore fests for me these days, same goes for RPG.

Not bored of games at all. Of course I go through phases of feeling bored of PC games (everybody does) but then I just play on the wii or DS for a chunk instead. Currently loving COD4 multiplayer, GTR: Evolution and a bit of SupCom and TF2 now and then. And tons of games I'm looking forward to as well!
