...not being able to complete games but REALLY wanting to know how the storyline progresses? :p I find it so so difficult to make myself play a game to completion, but I would kill to experience the storyline as it progresses and comes to an end.

A few games that I've started, but not finish, and feel this way about include:

F.E.A.R.
Bioshock
Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl
Crysis
Doom 3
Lego Island 2
Far Cry

I enjoyed every game there, but just found it so difficult to make myself continue, that I gave up and stopped. A few that I have completed and loved include:

Half Life
Half Life 2 (including the episodes)
Call of Duty 4

And that's it off the top of my head. :( Call of Duty 4 was almost on the first list. I got so bored in the first couple of missions that I gave up, but as so many people were bigging it up (and I'd heard it was short), I decided to play to the end... And damn, what a fantastic gaming experience. It was a bit on the short side, but NO game has ever kept me that fixated and entertained for it's duration.

Who else has a similar problem? :p

Ghost Recon:advance warfighter was so hard I had to use cheat.... i suppose you can youtube all the scenes :D

I was just literally seconds from throwing my controller out of the window just playing Gears of War (for Windows). It's the last bit of mission 4 when you need to get to the APC but it's taken me 1 HOUR to do it. I've done the same thing many a time on the 360 but it was just no go on the PC. I would have ordinarily given up but I knew I must press on to get to the Windows-exclusive bit where you fight the Brumak. I did it in the end though.

I think the trouble is that if you've invested a few hours in a game, you feel like it's a bit of a waste not to carry on to completion (as the actress said to the bishop!)

One thing you could do is cheat or use a trainer (god mode, infinite ammo etc). That will diminish the gaming experience somewhat compared to playing it properly, but if you were going to give up anyway it will at least let you experience the storyline you desire.

On a game like Bioshock you shouldn't really even need to do that, as you get infinite respawns.

I also did the same with the first stalker got really for but then it broke and i never went back to it. ( i'd love to know what happens, dont tell me though as i'll go back to it one day.

love the new one so hope that same does not happen with it too!

Bioshock - played a hour of it and got bored

Stalker - Shadow of Chernobyl- played it for about 10 min and got bored

Crysis - Enjoyed, got a amazing story line just a shame it was so short

Doom 3- very good game,1 of them games you have to finish

Far Cry - i was enjoying this i cant remember why i didn't finish it

Half Life - 1 min of playing and it was uninstalled
Half Life 2 (including the episodes) - same

Call of Duty 4- Amazing game and story line but yet again, it was way to short

GRID: amazing game while it lasted

F.E.A.R - absolute amazing game, probably best SP fps to come out.

Mass Effect - played about 20 min then got bored

Mercenaries 2 World in Flames - cheap version of GTA and a failure

Stalker:Clear sky - yet again boringggggg

Spore - never seen anything so pathetic in my life

Turok - quality game and a good story line

There single player game's ive played and tried to play in last year, thing with me is if the game doesn't catch my full attention straight away i wont ever bother with it again.

Wow, you are all about giving things a chance aren't you?

I always finish games! Sometimes games like Morrowind I'll take a long time over completing, playing other games as well, but I like to finish every game unless it's completely awful.

Why did you not like Half-life? When did you play it?

Its quite probably the best FPS I've ever played, even though I played it back in '99.
The scope and story of the game is just great.

Playing the game these days with the current state of graphics just doesn't give you the same feel as it did back then, I think that it's not possible for it to have the same impact as it did then.
I really enjoyed HL² also, though I think it wasn't as good as the first overall, the story wasn't quite as good. I really look forward to the conclusion of the Half-Life saga in HL³.

Stalker is a game that you have to commit time to, so that you get immersed in the atmosphere of it. It's not a 'hit the ground running' 'throw you in the thick of it' action game.

Have to say that you don't seem to be one that appreciates the subtleties in games (not a criticism, dont take this the wrong way!). COD4, Crysis and Turok are effectively just "kill, kill, kill" games-the rest of them have a little more to them; maybe you should stick to that sort of game!

I usually install one game at a time, give it my full attention and play it until I've completed it. Only game I've ever given up on was Sudden Strike which I thought was complete turd.

Completed Crysis a couple of days ago and have just tonight finished Bioshock after getting it the day it was released and only getting it to work Friday.

Loved every minute of Bioshock, as above though...way too short tbh. Absolutely love Crysis even though my rig was almost on its way out of the door during the last and final level on the Flight deck, I mean wtf is with that.

Loved F.E.A.R. although I almost papped my pants many times, especially the bit where to go down the ladder to get scared pooless at the top and at the bottom.

Half-Life 2, again enjoyed playing that although it can get repetitive in some places.
I have completed COD4 but am starting it again tomorrow, getting Crysis Warhead this week and am looking forward to that.

0.o

You cannot play any huge game like Half Life for one minute and tell me it's crap and deserves to be uninstalled.

If you played it for 30 minutes or so, fair enough... you would have worked out it wasn't for you... but a minute? Gimmie a break...

For me I think the last game that really grabbed me but I didn't finish was Quake 4. I got about 1 or 2 levels before the end, had a huge computer issue that needed formatting to fix and I just can't be bothered to play all the way through it again.

9 times out of 10 I'll play a game, find I really enjoy it... but something else comes out that I've been looking forward to before I get a chance to finish it. So I leave the game to play the new one... this cycle hardly ever breaks unless a really good game grabs me and I play it all the way through.

I remember the first time I saw HL2 playing on my mates PC. It blew my mind at the time but then F.E.A.R. came along and it was

I did like to look and game play of 'The Chronicles Of Riddick - Escape from Butchers Bay'

That was a cool game, especially charging about in a robot type thing. Awesome game is no one here has played it. Graphics are there with F.E.A.R. any day.
