Antec 300 price rise?

went up from 35 to 47 quid in a day, even with the pound weakening against the dollar it can't be that much more... just a shame as it was such a good case for the money at the old price, now its just worth what it sells for. you can get it for 35 quid off competitors though

yeah, including the postage i might now have to buy it from a locoal pc store i know, the price here was much better including the postage cost, but now it's abou £1 more, shame really, it's a really nice case and i've only ever had 1 problem with something form overclockers

why does it have to be upside down ? why cant you have the fan at the top am I missing something ?

i have my corsiar psu fan facing down, and i havnt had a single problem and it feels generally cool when u touch it.

but then you loose the fact it can extract warm air from the case, if it's sucking of the case floor, not much heat is going to be taken out by it =/

Sure the psu will be ok, but it can do more

well having it fan facing down is better for cable management. thats the only reason i have it that way.

edit: i have the side fan exausting air from the psu and graphics too, so its all good :)

I believe they put the psu at the bottom in order to distance the space between the cpu and the psu (two big heat emitting components on the machine), the closer they are togther the more heat they emit.

Although what this generally means is more power consumption and noise (probably) because you need another extractor fan at the top. because hot a rises to the top, on a convential system the psu does the job of heat extraction, on these newer systems it's not the case.

You'll never know until you try it out, who knows maybe the psu will be more effecient as it will suck in cooler air and won't have to choke on all the hot air blown out by the other components.

Ok case, though funnily enough for a cheap case be weary using a cheap power supply. With the PSU being at the bottom the OCZ StealthXStream's CPU power cable could barely reach. Had to run it directly from the PSU over the graphics card into the socket, would not go any other way.

I suspect it isn't the only power supply built with mounting at the top of the case in mind either. Just a word of warning!

My PSU is a corsair 650W, seems to have huge cables on it, my current case just looks a mess because of it, and the fact i haven't tried to tidy it up.

This price rise is due to Antec increasing the price of their entire range, we took the price increase for a couple of weeks but unfortunately we did not have endless stock at the old price.

No more increases on the cards for a while thankfully.
