Exactly, comparing a 200ish BHP Japanese coupe with another 200ish BHP Japanese coupe is frankly ridiculous!

Small Front engine front wheel drive versus bargelike front engine rear wheel drive.

Totally different animals.

The FTO is quite expensive to insure vs the performance it delivers, also replacement panels are not available in the UK as it was never a domesticly delivered car. Something to bear in mind;)

The FTO is probably the better choice if you want the car to be "fast", a non turbo Zed is going to be a bit of a slug performance wise.

Looks like the FTO GPX then ,may go up to 3 k just a bit worried if the tiptronic goes wrong (paid 2k on my last recon auto box will just scrap next time) anyone know how reliable they are ?

Have heard that if you race it in manual then switch to auto it will try to copy this and continue to rev high ,seems a bit daft if its true

thanks for the comments so far :)

The autobox on the FTO supposedly "learns" your driving style. Or you could just leave it in semi-manual mode and click up and down the gearbox.

Apparently, the autobox in the 200bhp GPX slows it down to the point of performing almost identically to to the 180bhp GR/GX version - so I wouldn't worry, they are plenty quick enough for day to day driving.

Now Mitsubishi is aiming to lock the door on grey imports by bringing in the car 'almost officially'. We say almost, because the firm has asked one of its agents, Ralliart, to import a limited number of FTOs to be sold through Mitsubishi dealers and backed up by a full warranty.

meh...

Meh all you want, ding one and it'll get written off, no bones about it. Panels will be exorbitantly expensive to extract and ship from Mitsubishi JP, as such insurance companies will just write them off.

I'm not saying don't buy one, its just something to be aware of ;)

NA's are still pretty swift, easily keep pace with an FTO i'd say. Twin turbo is obv much faster, but also much more of a liability.

Also what has been said about parts is true, Colt Car Company are a bunch of *********. They will take legal action against people importing Mitsubishi cars without permission (nobody gets permission), and are generally unhelpful to owners of imports.

We've bought every part we've ever needed from our local Mitsubishi main dealer  The car was even sold, on arrival in the country back in 2000, through a Mitsubishi Main Dealers 'Red Zebra' approved used car scheme?
