Do I need to reinstall DirectX if I want to see the DX10 goodness (Or lack thereof) in games? I've installed all the new drivers, and I know that I'm technically running DX10 anyway since its vista, but do I need to do anything?

I can't find anywhere in Dxdiag that says what version/date it is, but I guess its working, I can select all the options in Crysis :3
Also, I just went into Windows Update, and its offering me:
'ATI technologies Inc Display: Asus EAH4850 series'

Its recommended, and dates from June, though has a published date of 11/9/08.

Now, I don't even have an Asus card, its a Powercolor, but the motherboard is an Asus, so I don't know if I should install it or not D:

Yeah, I always do. But the new WU seems to be pretty good, always knew when me 1950 was up to date or not, so I'm surprised that its done this.

Oh well.

Have a non-DX10 card? I mean, its still running DX10, just without the features, since the card can't do them.
I was just curious as to if I needed to reinstall DX10 to make it realise I had the DX10 stuff, in a similar way to the fact that from going between two ATI cards, you still need to uninstall then reinstall the drivers.

You can't do ANY DirectX10 without a DirectX10 card. It's a fundamental change to the way the entire pipeline works. Microsoft also are very strict on what makes a DirectX10 card. (and even moreso strict in DirectX10.1 and Dx11)

tried rainbow 6 vegas 2...

cant notice difference with and without the -Dx9... sound is completely fked up either way which i was hoping might fix...

DXdiag still says DX10 with a DX9 card, which is what I was trying to say.
Anyway, everything seems to be working fine, and windows update was only showing that driver because it hadn't scanned recently. Huzzah!
