¯\_(ツ)_/¯
After putting my HX620 in the case I noticed the fan is on the top when normally this PSU has the fan at the bottom when mounted normally. I'm not sure but I would have thought the PSU would have worked better when it's the right way up.

Has anyone tried modding this case so that the PSU is the right way up? I think you'd just need to cut a hole in the bottom of the case, and drill a few extra mounting holes....

I wondered this too when i got my case, seems to work for others though so not really had much thought about it since. Are you noticing any problems or just want it the right way up? Cant imagine it being well ventalated if you just cut a whole in the bottom, cant be more than 1.5cm gap between that and the floor.

if i'm not mistaken, isn't there mounting opition for both ways pre-drilled in the case (so you can have the fan pointing up or down)

the only problem with having the fan pointing down, will be airflow, but it will mean you drop screws when working on your pc in the psu and shorting it out next time you turn it on (my mate did it, one 120quid psu gone with a loud bang)

Just tried flipping it, there are indeed holes so you can have it mounted either way. :)

If I was to use a holesaw to drill a few holes in the bottom of the case beneath the PSU, surely this would allow enough airflow? The case has rubber feet which raises it off the desk...

Have look at the massive "A positive look at the 900" thread on XS, quite a few owners have done the mod you've discussed.

Done - I only used a holesaw, as I'm rubbish with a jigsaw and dremel:

(it's also been primed ready for a coat of satin black)

Couldnt you join the holes together with the whole saw or dremmel? Just looks like it still may restrict the air flow quite a bit. Noticed in the recommended thread above that people use larger feet on the bottom of the case to give abit more space for the air flow, any plans to do that?

nice work. be sure to show us a pic when its all done!
First coat of satin black is drying as I type this... (poor) pic here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12606348&postcount=7

Raising up a little is a good idea, I'll do that... I could probably raise it up and inch or so. I could probably just put some bits of wood under the feet :D

I was going to join it up with a dremel, but there will be very little metal around the feet and I'm afraid the metal would bend. This will be a heavy rig as it's got a meaty PSU and watercooling, plus a heavy accelero S1 on the GFX card... I'll keep an eye on the temp of my PSU tho. Also the PSU isn't touching the bottom of the case, I've still got the small rubber spacers in....

Fair play, the metal is alittle thinner than i thought it would be. May be tempted to do the same at a later date as im planning to cut some holes for cable tidying. Depends whether my PSU sucks or blows as i dont want it uscking up the dust under my case lol.

As i suspected, the PSU sucks air from inside the case, cant see any real benfit from mounting the correct way up. If it expelled the hot air it would be worth it, but otherwise its just sucking the dust from under your PC, guess it helps keep the desk clean lol.

This PC will be on a shelf, high up. I'm more concerned about keeping the PSU cool really, plus once it's mounted the right way up cable management is better.

Hopefully I should finish it this weekend... Everything takes so much longer when you are watercooling! :/
