Got to be the worst confirmation that NME have ever done but here goes:

Led Zeppelin 2008 tour confirmed

The legends WILL play more dates

Led Zeppelin will tour in 2008, the band who have been booked as their tour support have revealed.

Ian Astbury, lead singer of The Cult, has confirmed that they have been roped in to support the recently-reformed band on a jaunt next year.

According to Billboard, during a gig in Cincinnati on November 17, Astbury said: "We'll be back next year, because we're opening for a band you may have heard of. The name starts with an 'L' and has a 'Z' in it."

Hearing the announcement, a fan in the audience shouted, "Led Zeppelin." Astbury nodded an affirmative response, and raised an arm into the air.

Led Zeppelin are yet to announce official details of any new tours. Keep checking NME.COM for the latest on the Led Zeppelin reunion.

I think the last line says it all, and I would not trust Astbury to make me a cup of tea, but...... Fingers crossed!

Pretty much, but with a band as big as LZ then there's got to be some truth in it or NME would be up in court and forced to close to pay the fee for losing the case.

Win win either way! yey!

i wanna see Jimmmmeeeee :)

but Mr Plant on c4 news yesterday was hardly raving to play more than the 1 date at O2.

plus if 'arvey is running the show, despite the poss of going broke again, then be prepared for more phoney ballots.

Jimmy Page To Hold Press Conference?

What could he be announcing?

According to a posting on the Led Zeppelin fan site Royal-Orleans.com, Led Zep guitarist Jimmy Page will hold a press conference at Park Hyatt Hotel in Shinjyuku, Japan on Monday, January 28th.

It's been anticipated that Led Zeppelin could earn well over $200 million if they toured this year in the wake of last month's reunion show in London. The band has offers from both Live Nation and AEG, with each structuring bids in the form of a large upfront payment to lure the band to their venues.

More life in this yet?
Yet again NME/The Sun spouting stuff:

Led Zeppelin are planning a full tour for next summer, with singer Robert Plant set to rejoin the band, according to reports in The Sun today (September 26).

Despite their massively-successful reunion gig at London's O2 Arena last winter, the band have so far declined to confirm whether they will plan any more shows together.

Initially, it was believed that singer Plant was against a full tour with the band.

However, today's report claims that Plant is now ready to join guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist John Paul Jones and drummer Jason Bonham in rehearsals for a tour set to start next summer.

An unnamed source told the newspaper: "He [Plant] realised he couldn't face the thought of not being involved. The band were over the moon when he told them the news."

I had heard last week that they planned to tour without Plant.... Lets see.
I hope the ticket agency that could get these briefs to sell have very, very good servers :p.

Now I'm going to be a bundle of nerves again, until this is officially confirmed or denied, PLEASE TOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell me about it, I almost posted this ~5 different times and then closed the browser. Two sources though this time, okay the NME story is based around The Sun snippit but still Led Zeppelin it's worth a post if it's worth anything :p.

I can't believe the original "confirmed" NME link above is still active.
They are my last port of call for daily music info, not even a patch on the paper of old, it used to be more up to date than their website is these days.

I would sell a kidney for a ticket. I'm still gutted I didn't get any for the 02 show. I'd take my dad with me as he saw them once in 72 and has always said they were the best live band he'd ever seen.

The Sun / NME get it wrong again:

Robert Plant – Official Statement
29th September 2008

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss are currently touring the USA on the last leg of their 'Raising Sand' tour. They played a benefit concert in Oklahoma City for victims of Hurricane Ike last Friday; Austin,Texas last Saturday and tomorrow they play Portland, Oregon before finishing the tour in Saratoga, California on October 5th.

After those dates, Robert has no intention whatsoever of touring with anyone for at least the next two years. Contrary to a spate of recent reports, Robert Plant will not be touring or recording with Led Zeppelin. Anyone buying tickets online to any such event will be buying bogus tickets.

“It‘s both frustrating and ridiculous for this story to continue to
rear its head when all the musicians that surround the story are keen to get on with their individual projects and move forward,” Robert Plant said.

“I wish Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham nothing but success with any future projects,” he added.

I have heard from real life sources that this is definite. They are currently in rehearsals and WILL be doing another tour, but Robert Plant will not be singing with them.

I can practically guarantee this. ;)

Led Zep without Robert Plant, I'm not sure they should bother, until he's ready to tour with them and who the hell could fill his boots, nobody in my book.:(

That the thing there really isn't anyone that could do it, such a shame if they tour without Planty :/

Plant can really be frustrating sometimes. The longer this gets drawn out the less likely it'll ever happen. Page's going to be about 67 in two years time. There'll come a point where he won't be able to do it.
