Trivium - Shogun

Seriously can't believe Trivium are still around...especially considering they are just a Metallica tribute band now.

Checked out two songs quickly.
Sounds to me like they've gone for the same direction as Machine Head...
First impression less cheesy, but also less catchy and quite a lot slower - nah, they're not doing it for me. :(
Need another Pull Harder/Rain/Gunshot really...(even though I hated them due to that video for Gunshot, put me totally off, only picked it up after)

I bought it yesterday, and have listened to it a few times.
It's kind of a mix of Ascendancy and the Crusade, and overall it's quite a good album. Kirisute Gomen and Torn Between Scylla and Charybdis are probably my favourites right now. Shogun (the song) is immense, but a bit drawn out at parts.
It's not as good as Ascendancy, but it's an improvement on the Crusade.

I only really like the first half of Ascendancy, discounting the title track...
Hate Like light to flies, dying in your arms.
If they could match those first few songs they'd be onto a winner in my opinion.

Listnened to the new one 3times now, there's easily as many great songs on this one as there was on Ascendancy I reckon, if not more.

Catchy, melodic and heavy, thats what I like yargh.

really loving this album

fairly new to trivium but might grab some of their older stuff now

any recommends?

Ascendancy

Ember to Inferno

I'd avoid The Crusade to be honest probably worth a download to listen to first then purchase if you like it...it's not the best, probably the worst of all they're albums.

Shogun is a return to form IMO.
