Car park incident - Claim against the company?

Id give them a phone in the morning, tell them the story, theyll probably send you a bill for the out of place kerb stone - that'll teach ya!

Going back to the the original question: unless you can prove that the car park owners were negligent, then it's your fault. Even evidence of previous offs won't help you unless you can prove that they were down to the owners' negligence. I doubt your insurers are interested, so it's up to you to sue. If you lose, you pay costs which may well run into thousands. You could try a small claims court claim, but even if you win, a refusal to pay by the owners will not be followed up.

You're ****ed I'm afraid.

I'm sorry, but I can't see how this can be anyone else's but the OP's fault. Even really smooth tarmac has enough grip even at relatively high speeds. You were obviously going too fast for the conditions and are looking for someone to blame. Seriously, get some balls and take some responsibility for your actions. Were you expecting some signs to explain that it was a slippery surface? Are you one of these people who want signs for every possible hazard or canyou use some common sense?

Get to your local scrappy n find a replacement wheel ! And complain to the owner of the car park about the layout although they may not bother to change that..never know though.

Obviously this wasn't my fault, I have the owner's number and will be ringing tomorrow. What a disgrace!

Obviously it was - you crashed your car and nobody else was involved. It doesnt matter what the 'speed limit' is, its a limit not a speed its ALWAYS safe to drive at. Try negotiating a narrow country lane bend at 60, you'll crash there as well.

You crashed, its your fault, and you are very lucky the owner of the carpark isnt claiming against YOU for damage to the curbs.

Some road surfaces suck. As a driver, you must adjust to them. If you dont, you will crash. This is fundamental stuff. Stop blaming anyone but yourself for your mistakes.

Could this be God giving me a sign that my Federal £25 tyres aren't upto the job...

Cheap tyres... great.

It was your fault. Replace the wheel and tyre and be thankful it wasn't any worse. What does a rover steel wheel and tyre cost from a scrap yard anyway? 40p?

Even if the road was slippery it's up to the driver to anticipate/notice it, especially when making a sharp turn. There's no recourse against all the lorries that seem to leak diesel onto the road or the council who allow nice slippery manhole type covers to be placed all over the road on blind corners, both of which can be extremely dangerous to a biker if they fail to notice them. It's no difference when a road surface has worn smooth.

Firstly, I do not believe that that damage was sustained at 5mph.
Secondly, In the OP you say that you have the owner's number; what does that mean?
Thirdly, The fact that other people have done the same thing is irrelevant.

If you know it is SO bad, why not take extra care?

Sorry not to sympathise but it appears to be your fault.

So you drive this route often? And you go slowly because you know it is slippery? How many times in the past have you complained to the owner of the road and what did they say?

Can you get a full picture of that DOT number?

5mph?! You lost control of a car and still managed to do all that damage... at FIVE MILES PER HOUR? People can walk at 5mph!

I think you should contact the company and then post up the reply on here. :D
