After problems with my volvo i decied to buy a cheap banger to last me a few months. Criteria was under 500pounds must have long MOT and some tax. Was after a 240/740/940 volvo but nothing was around so i ended up with an E34 520i. (worlds worst pictures below)

Exterior is in pretty good condition but the interior is a bit naff, even though its cloth the back seats would still give fox a heart attack.

Was suprised how nice it is to drive, had some real fun on country lanes but as its underpowered it can struggle with overtaking. It does drive much better than the s80 :(

Nice one...

I like some of the older germans, the e34 and the W124

I drove a cheap E220 coupe the other day and it was great... and plenty of bargains about on these kind of cars.

Can't believe that wing mirror design stayed all the way through to like 2004 !

Looks good. Ive drive a 205k mile 520i - the thing I found was how solid the interior felt given its age and mileage!

"only" 144k, from the sh though it did its first 98k in 3 years. Interior is a bit crud, owner had a dog so some rips on back seats and there is wear on drivers side bolster :(

I cant imagine how it must feel with such little power for the weight of the car, the 525i I have feels / felt fairly spritely but nothing like "fast" (0-60 in 8s). Nice cars though, whats the spec like? Climate? OBC?

Its a bog standard SE, the only optional extra that i could find is front arm rests although these are not on the original invoice.

If it had climate, auto dipping mirror, cruise and a bit more poke it would be a lovely motor :p

Got some music now after buying a HU for 1.50 but spending 10 on cables :(

One thing that is worrying me slightly is that when its first started it idles at about 2500rpm, it goes down to 600rpm (ish) after a few mins but it just seems a little high?

I don't remeber any of my other cars idling quite that high!

My CTR does this till it's warmed up. Might be similar idea behind it.
