I just remembered that my oc UK pc came overclocked at 3.66GHz. A few days ago I just reformatted my hard drive and re-installed windows vista 64bit and now my cpu is at 2.40ghz.

I've never overclocked or looked into it. Whats the easiest way to get my cpu back up to 3.66ghz?

Pc I bought in april 2007.

Ultima OC HD 3870 X2" Intel Core 2 DUO E8400 3.00GHz @ E8800+ 3.66GHz Dual Core DDR2 System 8800GTS 640mb

Thanks.

Just a quick question, did you reset the BIOS?
What are you using to check the speed, was just wondering as Windows sometimes reports the default speed and not the overclocked speed.

Raise the FSB and check your memory multiplier, have a look at the overclocking sticky in the Overclocking & cooling forum.

Reformatting and re-install of the OS wouldn't de-clock it, you must have reset the CMOS or reverted the BIOS to defaults. Or maybe did a BIOS update?

I had my motherboard replaced 6 or so months ago. I'm just going to mycomputer to check the cpu speed.

Use cpu-z to make sure you have an e8400. Because thats reading e6600. Where did you have the motherboard replaced? I hope someone unscrupulous didnt switch out the CPU.

Secondly name your motherboard and cpu cooler and people will help you overclock it again.

edit: Thanks for the update. Are you sure you bought a PC with an e8400? Because otherwise the only other possibility is that the CPU has been switched.

edit: E8400 wasnt out in april 2007 was it?

My motherboard - (P5N32-E SLI PLUS)
Cooler - Not sure, is there a way to find out without opening the case?

You will need to open the case to check, who replaced the motherboard like ghost101 mentioned

This is strange, best to contact OCUK? Would they replace the CPU?

I'm kinda confused now.

OCUK did, nov 2007 I had it replaced. They changed the mobo from a Abit IP35 Intel P35 to a asus P5N32-E SLI PLUS

The prebuilt systems OcUK put up change name as they change hardware, as the reviews stay on the same page even for the old System specs they had, so i'm guessing his Order probably changed automatically aswell, or? :p

Yeh makes sense. So he always had an e6600 lol. Just needs to overclock it now.

This would happen if they system was refreshed or updated for the release of the chips.

Quite often we make small changes to systems during their lifespan, increasing hard drive capacities, changing graphics cards for overclocked or new models.

When we get into motherboard graphics and CPU changes all due then the system is retired. :)

What will have happened is the system was updated for whatever reason and then not fully released during testing for whatever reason (probably motherboard compatibility for 45nm), but the system has detected the partial change and is showing this on the website.

I would recommend calling our technical support line on 0871 222 8528 and they will be happy to help you clock the system back to what it was sent out at. Unfortunately I doubt it will have been sent out at 3.66GHz.

Doesn't really make sense to modify an existing pre-built package on the website does it?
Especially if it will change everyones old order history to something completely wrong.
