I am building a raised wooden pond on top of some decking in the garden, it will contain 8 tonnes of water, do you think the decking will hold it?

It wont hold unless your decking is a good few inches thick and on many pillars to hold it up - in the end it wont be worth it. Just cut a whole in the decking, build from the ground up with correct foundations :p result: deeper pool, with better support.

raised decking? Mine is 9ft above ground.

If it's that far above ground - no chance.

If it's not substantially above ground I would cut the deck. Get a mighty circular saw, draw it out amd carefully cut.

Then nail (or screw, dependant on what you have) round the edges.

The decking is about a foot above the ground, I was thinking of doing what was mentioned here already. Place some supports underneath the decking to aid with support.

8 tonnes is a lot.

Drive your car on to it, then your parents car too, then your girlfriends car, then ask two friends to drive theirs on top of that.

If that holds, you're good to go.
