Have you actually tried any companies?
Most companies will then take the insurance group of the car that the engine was from. I can't see a 1300 metro costing much to insure?
Try HIC / Sky insurance / Adrian Flux etc...
You'll need to change the log book too.
I've found bell seem to not mind modifications, although to get a engine change quote they will want you to phone them up...at least when I tired to run an Mi16 converted 205 on their online system they said 'call us'.
InvG
bell say that the engine is to big for the car lol.
HIC are very cheap for MI16 conversions, it's who my girlfriend is with for the 205.
Clearly you spoke to a woman........
-westy- was trying to force me to get one a couple months ago so I was running quotes is all.![]()
bell say that the engine is to big for the car lol.
so they wont insure me![]()
It's only a mini with a metro engine, christ it's probably not even 100bhp?
Like I said, I'd stop ringing around the main insurers and try the modified group myself who specialize in these things.
My friends has a modified mini, he's 21 with about 3 years no claims it's got a 1275cc engine in, different exhaust system (don't even know if it's legal) and a few other things, £180 for the year with Adrian Flux, in fact it was £230 but he said can you go lower, and they asked him to make an offer.
Best friend who's 20 but has as no ncb, he was a named driver before and this is the first time he's done his own had to pay in the odds of £650 for a mini cooper SI, again a 1275 but modified and sold as by John Cooper.
Big difference there, both with Adrian Flux.
need to be 21Give Greenlight a call.
