Anyone else seen this? I am quite literally outraged...

Gears of War 2 is not coming to the PC because of us, the high end users.

Epic said:
"The PC right now is a fair amount different to what it was back in the day, with all the badly integrated video chips," said Cliff.

"Here's the problem right now; the person who is savvy enough to want to have a good PC to upgrade their video card, is a person who is savvy enough to know bit torrent to know all the elements so they can pirate software. Therefore, high-end videogames are suffering very much on the PC."

Don't they realise that the only reason they are where they are now is because of how PC gamers supported them? We bought the Unreal games.

I don't know what planet he's on, but the PC is far easier to program for now, and considering Gears runs the Unreal 3 Engine, a PC gaming graphics engine, it's easier than most games to port over.

Labelling high end users as pirates is a &%$£ joke. It's just a lazy excuse from a company who has sold themselves down the river. If the games are good and reasonably priced, people will buy them. How many 360 games are pirated? Loads!!

I wonder how much Microsoft are paying them to say this...

And someone really needs to kick them out of the PC Gaming alliance.

It is true though... most of the people with high spec PCs do know how whereas lower end users who play the Sims and their Wii aren't really a threat.

I don't see where he said the PC as a platform is hard to program for.

That is very different, PC games are easier to pirate as they do not require any modding.

If they want to shut out a potential market for their games they're more than welcome to but I guarantee that it will equate to less, overall sales.

The reason they don't complain about 360 games being pirated is that the console itself needs to be modified, whereas PC's only need a couple of programs to run pirated games. I agree, piracy levels on the 360 are huge but as we've mentioned before, its far easier to blame the PC market because there will always be a PC user who can get round the original code.

that is a flipping joke, So because we posess the knowledge to upgrade our graphics card we are all pirates...... great

You lot are funny, he made no such claim.

He's merely commenting on the fact that piracy is more prevalent in high end games due to the market they are aimed at. It's undeniably true :p

He is suggesting that high end users are more likely to pirate, which probably is true.

I only dont pirate pc games to support the format, im quite happy to pirate other media.

Then stop aiming for the high end market. I seem to recall graphics over gameplay being forced on the majority. Make some decent games with decent looking graphics, not linear & generic ones with gorgeous visuals. If i'm playing a shooter, I want to be looking at the enemies whilst they shoot at me, not the pretty beach to my left. This method would likely see production costs for the engine reduced, as well as the time taken to make it meaning money saved by the company.

**** Scum bag pirates get some money and buy games no more o i will try b4 i buy bs just buy it or don't play it. OMG i would have loved Gears of War 2 to come to the PC.

Isn't this old news or is it another whine fest by Cliffy?

Not too long ago he had a similar rant about pulling out of PC games because UT3 didn't sell very well "BECAUSE OF THE PIRATES OMG NOWAI!!11" when in fact he didn't seem to realise it just wasn't very good.

Here's an idea Cliffy, "make it good and the people will come". Whiney 'tard. Good riddance I say. GoW2 won't sell well on PC anyway because it's ancient gameplay with very little longevity, PC gamers expect more than these dumbed down console spray and pray, move to next room, get bigger gun annnnnnnnnd repeat games. I like to think so anyway.

Even if it did come to PC, which it probably will eventually anyway, I wouldn't welcome it. The PC release for Gears 1 was a buggy mess when it first came out and I doubt it's much better now. I have no reason to expect any different the second time around.

Q.F.T ^ I couldn't agree more

"Cliffy B" can kiss my ass. Maybe if they didn't put out rehash after rehash their games would actually sell well. UT3 was was massively delayed and when it finally appeared it was consolised (in the opinion of most ut3 players) and because of that sold like crap.

Ever since that happened theyve been whining about the pc at every given opportunity. UT3 sold like crap because it was crap not because of piracy. And isnt it funny how piracy didn't concern them with unreal, ut99 2003 and 2004. Just lately this seems to be their bandwagon of choice.

This is what we call an inductive fallacy, Cliff.

Every time you open your mouth it's bull **** and I hope you get sacked eventually.

The feature where it deleted your save games was an excellent addition. Really glad they implemented that one on PC. :D

Everyone i know with a PS3 or Xbox, hell even a PSP or the DS lite uses chipped or R4 cards.

Some PC users are the same too.
