All PC Gamers are pirates and the PC is hard to program for...

"Cliffy B" can kiss my ass. Maybe if they didn't put out rehash after rehash their games would actually sell well. UT3 was was massively delayed and when it finally appeared it was consolised (in the opinion of most ut3 players) and because of that sold like crap.

Ever since that happened theyve been whining about the pc at every given opportunity. UT3 sold like crap because it was crap not because of piracy. And isnt it funny how piracy didn't concern them with unreal, ut99 2003 and 2004. Just lately this seems to be their bandwagon of choice.

Yep. Also UT2003/4 needed a unique genuine key in order to play online, so unless you just wanted it for single player (rather pointless), you had to buy it and I was happy to as were many others. It was and is a great game and still played today in far greater numbers than UT3 is, or probably ever will be.

As you say, UT3 didn't sell not because of piracy, but because the game is dumbed down rubbish and also it uses GameSpy rather than its own master server like previous UT games.

Hmmm having read it again, would the pc market flourish again is the non savvy users had normal gfx cards, eg. make midrange cards like 8600GT/hd3600 a standard in all pc's ?
I mean I think it sucks pc's come with uneven rubbish specs, eg. some 2.67 ghz core 2 duo, 3gb ram, yet only some Intel integrated POS... Should be a lower end C2D, 2gb of ram, and a 8600GS/GT at least... That way every person on pc could play any game on low/medium tbh, even crysis runs fine on a 8600GT if just keeping to the low settings... It's the pc manufacturers fault for making such rubbish specs... A cheap athlon x2 4800+ or something + 2gb of ddr2 value ram + 8600GT makes a much better gaming platform than Intel E6600, 3gb, Intel GMA...

For example, local pc shop near me offers a multimedia pc with a top end core 2 duo and 3 gb of ram with only a 7300GE...
And their gaming pc has a 8600GT and a quad core and 4 gb of ram:rolleyes:...
Why don't they just do a dual core, and a GTX260 instead in the gaming pc  ?

Yeah ive noticed that, on a competitor website there offering "gaming" systems with SLI 8600GT's. Why not just shove a sodding 8800GT in there ? It seems nvidias has there claws in them and are desperately trying to promote SLI, which in the end hurts the customer when you get crap like that (8600GT's ffs) being considered good.

I also saw a PC for sale on an american site, for $700, you get a quad core proccesor, 6GB or ram, 500GB hard drive etc........ but an onboard nvidia 6100................... ridiculous.

Indeed, idiotic things like these make people think pc gaming sucks:
''look man ive got a new awesome pc, quadcore&6 gb of ram yo'''
''awesome dude, lets try crysis''
''wtf, this runs like crap, pfff pc gaming suxxx you need a 5000$ pc to play games, lets go play on my playstation/360''

Some people want/need a fast PC for stuff other than games, in which case a low end graphics solution is perfectly adequate for their needs.

I agree that the problem comes when people are ignorant of PC specs and think that because it comes with a high end CPU and RAM, it will be a games machine.

What other stuff, I doubt the average enthousiastic Joe ( the true avg Joe doesn't need much more than a p4 tbh) needs a quad core to watch his HD dvd/blu ray films on his pc or burn a few films or play with audio editing a bit... A dual core + 2gb ( with winxp anyways) is more than fast enough for 95% of the people... What I'm saying is though, why skimp on the gfx card, a 8600GT is very affordable, 56 euros, thats only 30 more than your average low range card... You are making your pc much more capable with such a cheap difference, even flash and photoshop will use GPU power from now on... While a quad core in all honesty, barely gives you much extra capability than the avg dual core, while costing much more...

You can get a very capable dual core board with onboard graphics for about £30... why pay more for an add-on gfx card if you don't need it.

Plenty of people want or need a faster PC for general use, or for office or development work.

Yup, thats what ive been thinking for years. It doesnt help when most companies promoting gaming PC's are the £1/2 grand systems people think you need. It would help if more companies promoted things like the Crysis machine EA have brung out in America, help change the perception and all that.

Thing is about pc games though, they're a lot cheaper on release I've seen. Far cry 2 is 25 pounds on pc but 40 on 360/ps3 thanks to a certain rain forest.
