Well i finally picked up my new car :D

1986 Mini City thats been fully restored 7 months ago.

Has a 1275gt engine with balanced crank, high lift cams & twin carbs. 7.5" cooper disc and calipers under 10" rims. Also has a straight pipe on it that'd make your ears bleed

He's called Mervin :) (previous owner named it)

That's a great little car, but please for the love of Christ stop calling it 'Mervin' :(

Droooools... I've always loved original Mini's.. having owned an A reg Mayfair and and N Reg Cooper (Monti LtdEd)... I'd love another one... but I need a practical car at the mo!! :(

Not my cup of tea but looks well finished. Shocking colour though!

What's with the random spotlight on the back?

Dreading to think how much it cost :o

Good to have another on the forum... can't wait till I can drive mine :)

13" wheels make the steering heavy and handling a lot worse. 10" are supposedly the best.

I knew someone would comment :P
Didnt expect it to be the very next post!

Heh :D

I am right, though. 10s make for a much sweeter handling Mini than a set of gigantic (they really do look utterly enormous on a Mini) 13s.

10in wheels + hydrolastic suspension + Downton fettled motor = Mini heaven :)

My first Mayfair had 10x6" Minilites and Drums (YES Drums) all round!.. I was hunting the scrappies for a set of Discs/servo!... It handled Fantastic!... like it was on rails!... the only thing it didn't do was stop too well!... luckily I'm 6' tall and 18stone!... managed to keep it out of many a ditch!!!... :D
