Sorry for a 'spec me' thread but I’m in need of good quality shoes/boots for everyday wear. They don’t need to be dress boots but need to look smart. Also comfort is a must.

So what brands and places to buy are the best in people’s opinions?

Well comfortable.

You don't get into the best benchmade shoes for that but you could look out for grensons or loakes or even Charles Thyrwitt (spl?). they're around that money and are good but not as good as church's, cheaney, crockett and jones, trickers et al!

Or look out for bay bargains on the better brands. there are a few good sellers who sell new old stock or slight seconds. (I have had good shoes at very good prices from sausages something and retailtherapy, search for those brands and you will see these sellers)

I want some Lobbs but can't justify it!

edit: there is also a tricker's factory outlet shop on the bay - Trickers are great for outdoors / country boots and shoe

If you've got a 'Barrats' near you, they're good. Don't know if they're a national company though. Got myself some nice ones for work for £25 the other day :D

CT are rebranded Loake shoes, at an inflated price as a result.

You can get Grenson Rose Collection on eBay for ~£100. RRP Is £220 ish. Good shoe. :)

Do you want them to be fashionable? Try here but quite a lot of it is over your budget

Some nice designs on there.

I know 'fashionable' is quite subjective, but I would avoid any shoe that has a

-square toe
-moccasin construction
-tramlines

That should narrow it down.

For a more fashion forward shoe brand other than Grenson, try looking at Moma. They are very good quality for the price.

In terms of comfort a Goodyear welted sole will provide a good level of comfort - something which Grenson will have.

I would say some of the shoes on Asos would be questionable in terms of quality (i.e. Hudson not so great, Ted Baker sometimes good, sometimes bad - from experiance).

That makes sense quality wise, only CT i have were from ebay and around £75. I wouldn't pay more than £100 for grenson, loake or CT for the most part. You can get church's, tricker's or CJ for not much more than that on the bay.

Thanks guys for all the advice, now heading off to look at some of these examples. I do need them to look kind of fashionable as i hope to wear them during the day on weekends etc.

You could try places like topman, river island etc (£45) but as aMb said quality may not be very good
