Hello,

As i have recently got married my wifes parents want to buy us a TV for £350 as our wedding present. i can choose it and just give them the details and they will buy it.

having looked around in shops ect i have seen a samsung LE26A457C1D which is 26" which i liked the look of.

my question is are there any TVs with a similar picture quality for the same price (no more than £350), i dont want any smaller than 26" and i would like a VGA/DVI connector as well.

what are the makes to go for or stay away from, i have seen a few toshiba screens that had all my requirements but not sure about the picture quality.

thank you in advance for your replys

if you look at a certain high street av shop you can find a 32" sony 32p3020 for £339.99 or the samsung le32a336 bang on budget at £349.99 both in store only.

2p

There is a shop that has the Sony Bravia 26v4000 for £360 or the 32" version for just an extra £10! I have been seriously looking at the latter, but space and budget is restricting me. They are midrange. Not sure about the DVI ports although you could use dvi to hdmi cables instead of dvi to dvi.

In the last few days, I have also learnt a lot on the best TVs from AVforums.

A 32" Sense is available within your budget. Its not amazing, but it is good for the cash and is based off a Samsung Panel.
Believe its 550cdm2 brightness
1200:1 contrast.

Not amazing but its an option if you want 32" :)

26" lcd :O

Give them a slap! suggest politely that they should put aside a budget of £500 to allow for a good 42" plasma :D

to be honest the max i would go for even if i had an unlimited budget would be 32", there isnt much space in the flat and the maximum i would sit from the screen is 2-2.5 meters.

thank you everyone for your help so far, i had decided on the samsung and said this to my wife. she then said that she didnt say £350 but said £300 (she said £350).

so does anyone have any sugestions about a TV for around £300, i know i will have to sacrifice something like size and/or make.

the only thing i need is a vga/dvi socket, i can live without multiple HDMI sockets.

does anyone know what something like the GOODMANS LD2666D, or the LG 22LG3000

again thank you in advance

Surely you can talk her into letting you spend £50 more for the gains you get.. £300 is a poor budget and for £50 extra you get so much more!

trouble is its not her decision either, her dad apparently said £300 possibly streatching a bit extra

i wish i could put some towards it to get to maybe £400ish but he wants to pay for all of it.

I dont know, anyway i've found a few LG screens that look pretty good. ill just keep looking

Sharp LC26D44E @ £300
Samsung LE26A457 @ £330 if u can stretch it.
SOny KDL26P3020 @ £300

What HIFI has just rated the Samsung 5/5 and it looks fantastic irl (been looking at 26" TVs on Tottenham Crt Rd yesterday). Sharp got good but not outstanding. Sony is an older model but decent.

Can vouch for this.

It's amazing for the money, does the job. It uses a Samsung Panel, and looks like one too!

Oh forgot to mention unlike most budget TVs it will downscale 1080p signals which can be helpful in some cases :)

@Mike

Yes a select few are, however unless you're sitting within about a foot, or are using it as a computer monitor its a waste of time!

Nice, yea I'm planning on getting a big computer monitor, but I'd also like to watch the odd film also... Plus I only have space for 1 screen! I think 32" or 37" is the sweet spot. :)
