I have just purchased an Asus Striker Extreme 2 with OCZ 1333MHz Intel Extreme XMP. I have had Major problems with stability.. Mostly in game but also in Windows doing nothing strenuous. The pc locks up and needs a hard reset. I have run memtest for 20hours with no errors. Im running everything a stock with auto settings. I have tried setting the RAM to its specified setting & voltages but no different. Has anyone had any experience of using the combination.. Good or bad. I am a bit worried i have spunked away this money for no reason

Asus Striker 2 Extreme Bios v1001
Q9550 @ stock 2.83Ghz
OCZ 4GB DDR3 PC3-10666C7 1333MHz Intel Extreme XMP (2x2GB) Dual Channel
DDR3 (OCZ3X13334GK)

Thanks in Advance

Dave

Corsair anyhow, will work as they have been Launch Partners many times with Asus.

They wont list every model of Corsair TBH and Asus support is lacking so list is prob outdated.

Cool Cool.. I just hope it sorts out my lock up problems. Otherwise i will need to find a cpu socket protector to RMA my board. I threw all the packaging out as my room looked like a tramps hotel

Hmm, mines is a 680I, think it has 1 and the 780I came with 2, there no good unless your on WC and cant fit 1 of them due to large CPU cooler anyhow.

They are to cool the Voltage Mosfets not the Chipset(s).

That ram should do you upto 1800mhz FSB with stock volts and timings so good leeway for overclocking, more so if you want to pump more into them/slacken them off. The heatsinks seem excellent.

XMP memory is for intel chipset based boards and Rampege Extreme ≫ Striker II :) The manufacturers recommended list isnt worth the paper its writen on, Also the Corsair 4GB DDR3 DHX can be very hit and miss. If you want proper 1800Mhz ram get the Cellshock or Corsair Dominator.

Its not the ram thats the problem its the compatibilty with my mobo im worried about.. By the sounds of it my S2E has a case of bad aids :( Has anyone got a spare socket protector they can led me :D

Oh yeah i know, just letting you know the Corsair stuff if you decide to go that route is good ram! Plus 4GB for £135 is really nothing to sniff at considering the price of some 4GB DDR3 kits!

I've read endless problems with OCZ ram and 790i chipsets in general, it's always the same story.

Head over to the massive S2E thread on XS. You'll easily find the knowledge you need to get the board stable at stock, overclocking is another story. Also use the OCZ support forums to find some stable settings. But I do agree the S2£ is an unforgiving board.

Cheers guys.. OCZ RMA`d and Corsair ordered. Will be home on Thursday night to see if it works. I dont think this will be the last you`ll see of me on the board some how :D

At last everything is fine.. Seems the S2E did not like the OCZ stuff. Corsair stuck in and no crashes as of yet :D
Now to start some serious overclocking :p
