to GTX 280 or not?

hey...so i've got itchy palms i'd quite like to get a new GPU, i don't really know what to get....

i have a 8800gts 512 at the moment, works fine with most games i play apart from crysis & warhead.....was considering getting a gtx280 i know the price is quite hi but i should be able to offset some of that by selling my exisitng card............................however what's your opinion?

i've read that Nvidia are supposed to realease new cards towards the end of this year which would i guess make the 280's cheaper.....also read somthing about intel doing cards which'll blow ati and nvidia outta the water but that's not gonna be for atleast a year i don't think

also which 280 ? as there are a load of them...

all i really use my pc for is gaming, i've got vista 64, and a q6600 - 4g geil ram @ 800hz

Just get a 4870 and save your cash for the next big thing.

1GB versions are overpriced at the moment, should you find one sub £200 then it might be worth a look if gaming res is over 1600x1200.

cheers, i'm gonna sell my 8800gts 512 may get upto £60 for it so i could proberly stretch to the 1gig card - good idea?

Just got my 280 today, upgraded from a 9800gtx, big different in Crysis Warhead and Stalker : Clear Sky, cost me £140 in total to upgrade.

hmmm - i've always bought Nvidia, but the cost of a 280 card just seems excessive really.......that's the main reason i probly won't get one and will get a 4870 1gig

4870 gets a pounding in Crysis so you wont gain anything with one of those
