////The Fake Silent Hill: Homecoming Thread\\\\

I thought the first was a really good game let down by the bad gfx. Saying that its still one of the best games Ive played. The part in the amusement park is really creepy.

I might give this one a go but Ive not played any since silent hill 2 i think. I only managed to get half way through due to the repetitive dark hallways. Just got a bit boring after a while.

Big big fan of silent hill series. well 4 was not that good, but they picked up the pace with origins.
Looking forward to this! Can't believe it has sneaked up so quickly and quietly. *air raid siren*

Get it on the PS1! it's an amazing game, it also scared the **** out of me :o

I've done just that actually! Playing Siren: Blood Curse - and subsequently being disappointed with it - made me want to play the Silent Hill games. Got Silent Hill yesterday, but saving it for when it's dark so I get the proper atmosphere. For a PS game, it hasn't aged too badly; certainly looks better than Syphon Filter 3, which I'd been playing lately.

SH2 is the best, and from what it says on wiki, Homecoming is heading back in that direction :D
SH2 was much more psychological than the others IMO, the story was brilliant delving into the 'heros' past etc. fantastic. much scarier when it's more about the human psyche than just scary monsters

Loved all the Silent Hills so far, rinsed them... but is it just me, or does Homecoming look, graphically, like a PS2 game? The textures are awful from what I can tell?

Still be getting it nonetheless, it could never be as poor as Alone in the Dark!

I know what you mean, but there was one video I saw that had more 3D textures in, in particular a bit with leaves or something.
There is more to it than the PS2 graphics, but don't expect gears of war

Silent Hill: Homecoming Review

6.5 Presentation
Coming across more like a subplot than a full extension of the Silent Hill franchise, Homecoming manages to lose the horror that made the series so compelling.
7.5 Graphics
The monsters and environmental changes within the game are very sharp, but the title does suffer from some odd filters, shadows and framerate dips.
8.0 Sound
Yamaoka's score is fantastic, but feels like it's too good for such a generic action title. Some of the voice acting falls flat as well.
6.5 Gameplay
While the combat system is extremely flexible and gives Alex a lot of different attacks to launch, it makes him way too skilled to take on the monsters of Silent Hill.
6.5 Lasting Appeal
If you're looking for a scare, you're not going to find it here. The lacking scares will probably keep you from returning much to Silent Hill and Shepherd's Glen when you've beaten the game.
6.7
Passable OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

:(

This is out in the US now, anyone know if the US NTSC version would work on a PAL UK 360? I got the US NTSC version of condemned 2 which worked on the 360... kinda hoping this works too, as we have to wait another month!

Well was consider importing it, but after that review I think I'll steer clear, tbh looks like AITD and I just don't fancy it. Plus I still have Siren to finish which so far is more my type of survival horror game.

BTW If you haven't already brought Siren, then it's out on BD on the same day as Sillent Hill over here, but at half the price :) (PS3 only)

Yeah I like the look of that Siren, but I have heard mixed reviews on that... and the fact its download only puts me off, but if its being released in BD then maybe... what's it like Edz?

I'm still gonna get Silent Hill, I've got them all so far, and the reviews don't put me off... just want to know if the US version would work in a UK 360??
