Can't get enough of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed? LucasArts has you covered. The latest addition to the Star Wars universe will see two rounds of downloadable content before the end of the year on Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network.

The first available download will feature additional costumes and character models for use in the single-player campaign, including Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ki-Adi-Mundi, and Kit Fisto. The second round, due later this year, will include a new single-player mission, set in the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant. The Secret Apprentice turns to the Jedi Temple to learn more about his father, and "while searching through the rubble of the destroyed building he must confront his inner demons," LucasArts said in a news release announcing the upcoming content

See, this is why I think DLC can be such a bad idea. This is so close to release it was clearly just held back to make more money.

Of course, I'll eat my words if it's for free ;)

Should be made free as the full game was not £39.99 worth when the replay value on my PS3 is so low anyway.

Yep defo held back. The levels are 15 minutes anyway, if you replay a level after completing it when your not looking around for extras you can get from the start to boss in 15 minutes. The whole game time including two run throughs of the last level took me 8 hours. When you consider three of the bosses took me a frustrating hour and the star destroyer 2 hours the game time is short.

It was the most dissapointing game I've played this year. I wish I was richer, so instead of selling it on I could have snapped the disc into a hundred pieces smeared it in **** closed the box and sent it back to Lucasarts with a 'disc read error'.

FYI this was not held back.. it was incomplete as the game approached beta and it was therefore not included in the final product. So with a level that 80% complete they obviously got it finished and polished and now you can download it.. So it was either a delay in the relase or less content.. obviously for financial reasons they chose the later.

With silly deadlines from publishers this will happen a lot more as DLC becomes more popular.

I am getting the impression that you don't like this game :p I agree the Star Destroyer bit was frustrating until I figured that you use force ligtning against the Tie Fighters. 2 hours is a tad excessive though.

I doubt I will get the extra content, £39.99 is too much for what you get. I do enjoy playing the game, playing through for the second time at the moment. But *** extra content would last a very small amount of time, so its not worth it.

But the game was completed in early June they then held the release back until September as game sales are slower in the summer months. Lucasarts had no publisher pressure as they financed the entire game anyway and as always just look for someone to distribute it for a fee.

The finished game for me on the PS3 is very buggy and incomplete in many places plus the screen tearing in some places is very poor. I expected a lot more for the 4 years dev time guess I was wrong to do so.

Theres a glitch in the game that if you pull the SD down to a certain point and have to stop the guide for pulling it down is all over the place. I had to do some searching on forums to find how to get past it. That sapped a good two hours of trial and error to re-position the SD so it could be pulled down again.

In which case they'll release it for free?

Just because they delayed release doesnt mean the devs get more time to polish. More work on a product would risk introducing new bugs and everything would then need retesting to find them, then they would have to be fixed and the game retested etc.

Personnally i enjoyed the game, it was 26 quid on import so i could forgive some of its shortfalls. Having said that, the bosses were frustrating :)

I was refering to Krome studios who made the game.. lucas arts are just the publisher.

If its content intended for the original release i reckon it should be too.

You'll have to remember 1000's of levels / characters and content is "intended" for the final game but gets pulled close to BETA simply becuase time constraints mean it will never make it in. So thats not really a valid comment.. other 90% of DLC would have to be free.

I'm all for the downloadable content, yeah it should be free ideally but if it's not then it's not the end of the world either.

Anyone who paid full retail for this deserves to feel hard done by but has no one to blame but their selves. All the reviews that came out prior to it's release suggested it was worth a rent or purchasing after a price cut, but not at £40. I don't know about PS3 but 4 days after release this could be had on 360 at major supermarkets for £30. I just got a copy from ebay for £23 and I have to say at that price it's amazing.
