what processor should i get for this PC? I want a quad core, but i don't know which to get AMD or Intel.

Corsair 4Gb DHX XMS2 (2x2Gb)

Sapphire ATI HD4870 X2 2048MB DDR5 x16 CrossFire Dual DVI

Samsung 1TB 7200rpm S-ATAII 32MB Hard Drive
Liteon DH-20A1S-18-C 20x Black SATA + - DVDRW (X2)

Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI - Express OEM Sound Card

Asus P5Q Deluxe Intel P45 Skt775 DDR2 PCI-E 16x FSB1600

Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 32-Bit Edition OEM

Thermal Take W0117RB 750W ToughPower PSU

Cooler Master Cavalier 3 T03 A Aluminium Black ATX Case

I want a quad core running at 3.00Ghz. Though is Intel worth the price? Or would AMD perform on par with Intel? I want this processor to last me as long as possible without an upgrade or overclocking, so as anyone got any reccommendations?

Also, I can change the motherboard if that causes any trouble. Thanks in advance

Best option for a Quad at 3GHz is a Q6600 overclocked to 3.0. Though as you said you want one without overclocking.. maybe AMD would be the right choice for you :)

AMD's new Deneb Quad Cores are going to be coming out at 2.8GHz & 3.0Ghz and they will be AM2+ socket. They may come out at the end of 2008 if im not mistaken? If not Q1 2009.

the Deneb's come out in early january... and they were looking pretty good as far as the engineering samples were concerned.. however some of the higher oc's were faked/very inconsistent

As said above any 32-bit OS (doesn't matter which) will address up to 4GB of RAM, there are ways around it but for desktop purposes 64-bit is the sensible choice.

Unless you use obscure software/hardware then you will have no compatibility issues, 64-bit supports 32-bit software (but will need 64-bit drivers for hardware and these are available in 99% of cases with stuff released in the last few years).
