WWOCUKD: What Woud OCuk Do?

One of the best things you can do when you're a witness to a crime (other than if you know you could successfully aprahend the criminal) is to take photos and\or make a recording, which is usually doable with mobile phones. I guess that's not much use in this situation as the police won't really care about a minor incident.

Scuzi, do you think the PSNI would have even came to the incident? I'm not so sure.

They probably would have as it was on the Gilford Road. Had it been in a rougher spot like Corcrain or Churchill, they probably wouldn't have bothered though.

Not really, no. A few years ago, I had to work with one of the gang members involved who had just been released from prison. He boasted to me about why he was in prison, thinking that I was on his side. He nearly took a fit when I told him that my family and the Hamills know each other very well.

i was referring to the psni comment, not the people who perpetrated the fatal assault...

it never ceases to amaze me how completely stupid many so-called 'loyalists' are.

as a student i had to cycle from the mater hospital to the royal - across the shankill and up the falls - i always felt 'safe' until i crossed the peaceline onto the falls (misguided, i know) - however so many times in n ireland it turns out to be wrong place, wrong time irrespective of what religion you were

i wouldn't have stopped in the original scenario.

I would have stopped it.

Saying that drove past two kids that seemed to be kicking in another one. Obviously me and my mate stopped the car jumped out and gave them what for. The other kid jumped up laughed at us and said they were only mucking about!

Damn kids.

I think based on the situation you made the right call.

You would have been own your own
In a place you dont know
Getting invloved in a fight you dont know the reaons for.

Best case you save a stranger a few extra bruises
Worst case your m8 loses her car & god knows what else.

I was in portadown not so long ago. It didn't seem that bad? No worse than some of the estates round here anyways. We were in Armargh mostly though, which was quite nice.

if the ground was suitable for driving on, you could have mown them down, by clipping them with the car or something, at least that would have given you the edge on the attackers.
GTA style

For instance, the psni generally dont come near the area i live in and the local "councellors" dont get anything done either. Twice now my mate has been hit round the face with a bottle, everyone knows who done it both times, nothing was done about it. In the end he just "sorted" it out himself.

But in ref to the OP, not an awful lot you could have done there apart from calling the cops even though you might have wanted to do more.

I wouldnt of stopped not after having our van hi-jacked just outside portadown. My father in law decided to stop for the same sort of reason, we both got out of the van and 2 secs later it was gone. Kids got up and ran.

So its possible that was what they were doing.
