Surprisingly unhealthy foods

A pasta pot will weigh well over 100g so I don't see how that's relevant.

quite a few food labels say'' xxfat/salt/ per 100g''* and then give a value of a % of your daily recommended intake

* unless it's biscuits when it says ''per Biscuit''

Idd really cant imagine it had over 1000cals..
50% of your fat, or sat fat intake? Sat fat i could understand really, its prepacked after all. And if you go home after it its not like your going to be eating another 50% saturated fat are you?

Smoothies.

They contain far more sugar than you would ever normally consume if you ate a piece of fruit.

probably because said smoothie is made of more than A piece of fruit.

Eat all those pieces of fruit that go into a smoothie and hey presto.. same amount of sugar funny enough.
Sure the innocents even tell you to only have a certain amount per day, A few shots in the mornin always used to do me fine.

Yes, but the vast majority of people don't realise that.

So they think having a bottle of it or whatever is healthy because its fruit, when it's not the best of ideas at all.

I was always confused by the small (500ml) coke bottles - the nutrition information on them is only for half the bottle, and I thought it was bad even before I realised I had to double it.
Bear in mind tho the nutritional guidelines on most products are based on women (a diet of 2000kcal, as opposed to 2500kcal for men) and also are only a guide. Your lifestyle may mean you need more calories anyway (tho maybe not that much more)

Thats there fault for ignorance, the bottles of innocents for one advertise just how many pieces of fruit go into each bottle, its not there fault if people are too stupid to know that fruits are jam packed fully of calories

Exactly, and I'd feel much better about it if I was a big guy. Fact is I'm 5ft 9 and weight about 9.5st so 2000kcal is probably about right for me :/

you're still bigger than a woman and should infact have more muscle mass etc, it depends on your lifestyle, woman are LAZY remember ;)

Is anyone else occasionally shocked by how unhealthy some 'healthy' foods are? Even though most foods state their calorie/fat contents on the front, I rarely look that carefully and usually just pick up what I fancy.

Now I usually buy my work lunch at the local Sainsbury's - usually just pick up a sandwich or whatever but I find myself spending about £5 which is ridiculous every day. I occasionly just get something from the college canteen which saves me a bit of cash but makes me feel ridiculously unhealthy (usually opt for the very nutritional meal of chips, beans and cheese). So this morning I decided to pop into Tesco's (yes I know it'd be cheaper to make my lunch myself, but I have nothing in at the moment) and I went for the cheap and healthy option of a £1.16 pasta pot thing.

To my shock, when I came to eat it I realised it had 1010 calories, let alone 50% of my daily fat allowance. After a bit of quick research that's more than a BigMac and large fries which is insane for something you'd think would be the 'healthier' option.

So today it was chips, beans and cheese all the way!

You'll find nearly all of those pasta pots are rather fattening in the Saturated size and general calorie size....

Anything creamy basically. ie tuna pasta etc.

The tomato ones tend to have less in them, well, a lot less actually.
