When does Casual Smoker become Smoker?

That’s fine, everybody has the choice to do what they want I’m not going to tell or force somebody to stop. At the end of the day smoking does and will kill you I cannot get my head round the fact people know this yet still smoke 20+ daily?

Have you seen the new pictures on cigarette packages now? Shocking!

Yep, but the 20 I might have over the course of the month is not going to kill me, I'm more likely to die crossing the road on my way to work each day.

I totally understand the 20+ a day thing, the same way people drinking craploads of alcohol a day is a bad thing, but in the same manner, I would lump a casual smoker in the same category as a casual drinker.

I'd even be willing to wager that a bunch of my non-smoking friends who drink like fishes from Thursday to Sunday are doing more damage to their bodies than my sporadic smoking.

Any of the old baited threads eh? ....... how about the plane on the conveyor belt? that's always good for a few hundred posts, eventually deteriorating into this sort of crap.

In answer to the OP, I agree with many here that any smoking = smoker and would argue that social/sociable and smoking shouldn't really be used in the same sentence.

Whilst I'm perfectly aware that smoking is harmful - heck, I have a smoker's cough - stating that it will kill you is a bit... Daily Mail. Do cigarette sales also support terrorists?

Do you know how many people die each year due to smoking? Smoking will catch up with you sooner rather than later. I have had 2 family members die due to smoking related disease. Okay to say it 'will' kill you maybe a bit far it’s not too far off reality.

I don’t know do cigarette sales also support terrorists?

i wonder if:

smoking "Marlboro light" cigs rather than those "Marlboro red" ones is "better"? (both are bad but you know what i mean).

Also smoking 2 packs a day and smoking 1 pack a day does same/more/less damage? can you look at it that way?

That’s fair enough; it’s your choice to smoke at the end of the day :) Not for me to say what you can and can’t do, only you can make that choice! :D

How many would you say you smoke a day?

My grand uncle passed away a few weeks ago at the grand old age of 91.
My father went to visit him and the rest of the family during the summer and the old man still smoked the occasional cigarette. Dying of a heart attack at that age would be a pretty good way to go for most people. He didn't even suffer suffer from any breathing problems before he passed away.

Both the above quotes are correct. Neither sound wrong, nor are wrong.
The wording you used was incorrect, no matter how many times you try and argue your point.

i am not arguing at all you are the one going round having a pop at people for no reason at all

i have never commented on anyone's grammar in my life on a forum or any other place

the only people who would are really complete ********* who i wouldnt want to talk to anyway, manly internet gangsters from manchester

the fact is i made a post about smoking you try and flame me woo how cool are you.

the only reason you jumped on grammar anyway is that i made you feel stupid by agreeing with you lmfao

Yes, just have a think about it. When you see a terrorist in a film, do they have a cancer stick in their hand usually or not? Q.E.D. ;)

Smoking isn't going to instantly kill you, in fact you may well live a very healthy life having smoked for most of it but that is usually in spite of the smoking, it is difficult to make a solid case for beneficial effects of smoking on your health. If you want to do it and are aware of the risks then go ahead but please have some consideration for the people you may affect around you - most smokers I know are quite conscientious in this regard so it is a general point.

0.66, a pack of 20 lasts a month on average, and even then it tends to be weekends only.

1) man up
2) delete that sweary from your post.

It's actually worse for you. When you smoke 'light' cigarettes, you take the smoke deeper into your lungs in order to taste/feel the effect.

There's a website that explains why light cigarettes are just as bad, but a quick google and I can't find it :)

Whenever I stop smoking I get massive cravings for food. My appetite returns and I'm always hungry!

Hence why *'fat' people smoke.

*I say fat, but I mean people who think smoking will help them lose weight...ie generally fat people I see doing this, it's quite funny.

Not many then, why do you smoke then if you don’t mind me asking (probably answered this earlier :p) is just down to the social aspect?

Partly that, and partly due to the infrequency, I get a nicotine rush/buzz which is quite pleasant.

Might it be noted that I also smoke menthols, as normal cigs make my throat feel like crap the next day even if I smoke only 2 in an evening.

Might be the one reason I never took it up...It pretty much ripped my throat to sheds on every drag I ever tried :)

I thought menthols were for girls  :)

There is that stigma attached, but I'm not going to have a throat feeling like crap just to appease the views of a stranger that I don't care about :p

What always amused me was the people I knew who smoked who'd change to menthols for a week "because I've got a cold". Sure, like the menthol will clear that right up. :D
