PC just switched itself off...

Oookay... Slightly concerned...

My PC just switched itself off, then when I powered it back on, it almost immediately displayed the Vista login screen, but the mouse and keyboard were frozen, and there was no flashing cursor in the password box. Had to hard-boot, and now everything appears to be working OK again.

Any ideas what that was? :confused:

You inadvertently put it to sleep and it crashed trying to resume. The crashing when resuming bit is not unheard of on Vistashista.

How did I do that? I wasn't even using it when it switched itself off...

Ah, just looked at the Power Options, and the PC was set to go to "Sleep" after one hour... So, just to see if hibernation WAS indeed the cause of the crash, I put it to sleep myself, powered it back on, and yup, it crashed.

Irritating, but at least that's solved.
