think of the hair on your good trousers!I like lively, super-active animals. Sloath doesnt do it for me.
Our cream Burmese, don't know if it's typical of the breed but he's incredibly vocal which can get on your nerves at times, I'm sure the neighbours think we're on the virge of a divorce the amount of times they must hear "WILL YOU SHUT UP". He got entered into a cat show by the inlaws (they bred him) in class of his own (nuetered male) and the judge marked him down for an undershot jaw which meant he had to come second in a one horse race

Well, for what its worth I almost bought a couple of cats a few years ago, but uncertainty about work and home location stopped me in the end.
I was looking to buy from a GOOD specialist breeder of Maine Coones (Starpaws - google it). My family spent a fascinating couple of hours one Saturday afternoon with these people at their home going into the details of living with this particular type of cat.
Avoid cat "farms" - you want to buy from a place where there is true love and respect for the animals. In any case you want to ensure the cat you get has all the correct vet certifications, innoculations etc before you part with any money. Also, a decent breeder will not let you have the animal while it is still very young. This means you miss a little of the cute fluffy kitten stage but it stays with its mother longer which is better for its health.

I'd love to get some cats but the wife isn't too keen, something to do with being allergic or some nonsense. And no, I'm not getting a hairless one, they're ugly!
It's true aswell, I remember when ours was 12 week old kitten, she walked behind the telly, grabbed the phone line in her front paws, but her back ones on the wall and then tried to yank the phone line off the wall
Well we lost the none fluffly kitten when my GF came round to my flat (Aberdeen) we thought it got behind the washing machine so I pulled it all out and couldn't see it, so with the other one kept in sight she went out side, I thought it would be a good idea to listen to some loud music (Hardstyle) while she was out as she doesn't like it.
She came in I turned the music off and we heard a small meow, the kitten had climbed into the bass tube my computer speakers (Z-5500's).
Felt a bit guilty when I told her I was listening to loud music

Got a Pixiebob at home from Alsoomse, awesome cat, although we've kind of brought him up to be a bit rough ... loves attacking my sister, when she screams it just provokes him even more... never lays a claw on me or my dad, knows when we're playing, and knows to unleash his rage on his toys

Getting two kittens from the same litter doesn't necessarily mean they're going to be similar. We've got a pair who are almost complete opposites.
Georgie is the typical lap cat, she's an ultra-fluffy brown/black/white stripey tabby with a giant fluffy tail. She demands attention all the time and likes being picked up, relaxing immediately and clambering all over you.
Mittens is completely the opposite. She's got very short hair with orange and black tortoiseshell markings that look make her look a bit like a harlequin, half her face is orange and the other half black. Her tail is a fraction of the width of georgie's fluffy tail and her personality is completely different. She's a very active cat, speeding around like a bullet and generally not wanting to be picked up or stroked (except occasionally she'll demand that her head be scratched, headbutting you until you do so). She also jumps crazy heights
They're both very friendly, but although they both like being in the same room as you, whilst georgie demands to get on your lap, mittens will be off exploring the room or sitting down just out of reach.

Those pixiebob cats are very expensive, I hear. I believe they originated in the USA and although their breed is a few decades old, they are still very rare (and thus expensive).
They are nice big cats, if thats what you like (which I do). Got any pics?
My 2nd choice was a Maine ****, but I was put off by the long hair and the shedding problem. Hence, I opted for my 3rd choice, the Egyptian Mau. As it turns out, he is my favourite of my 2 cats.
A guy on this forum, called Makounchi bought 2 Maine Coons. They were fantastic examples of the Maine **** breed. I think he paid £450 each which is well priced. I think if I ever do get a Maine ****, I shall probably get it from the breeder that he got his from.

How old is he? He looks a bit moody. I have no problems with vocal cats, as my Bengal is VERY vocal.
We had a similar situation with a couple of our old cats.
Most of the litter was like Lulu - small, slim, black and white. And then there was Jasper - a hulking great bulldog of a tabby cat. God only knows what the father was like, 'cause Jasper was just odd. His bone structure was a bit weird (his ribs were an odd shape), and he had webbed paws....the vet didn't know quite what to make of him.
They were pretty similar in a few ways though. Both he and Lulu were mad about water - if you turned a tap on anywhere in the house, they'd come running to play in it. They always ate together and slept near each other. And even though they looked so different, you could tell they were brother and sister - they acted so much like each other at times. When Jasper was run over it sent Lulu a bit odd - she'd never had to defend her territory before as Jasper did the patrol and muscle work (though he never had to fight - he was big enough that nothing ever really bothered him), and when he died she became a bit aggressive with other animals. And by "a bit"....well, next door had a cat that never came outside again after an encounter with Lulu!
