Guys,

I've just recently injured my left knee and am struggling with the clutch in my CTR EP3 so I'm looking for a car of similar size with some decent performance and reliability.

I have just had a quick look at a 54 plate Audi A3 Quattro 3.2 S-Line with DSG. It has 41K on the clock with half leather, climate control and Bose Audio. Only problem I could see is a couple of tears on the drivers side inside door trim which dealer said they would replace.

The other problem is that the car is yellow....interior is charcoal grey. Colour doesn't really bother me but is obviously partly responsible for the price.;)

Car is at a main dealer and is priced at £7800. Is this a decent price and what would you guys be expecting as a trade in for my CTR (late 53 facelift model in silver on 60K with FSH)?

May go and drive the car tomorrow - anything special I should look out for? I am pretty familiar with the engine/gearbox as my girlfriend has a new shape 3.2 TT with DSG.

Any thoughts? Thanks a lot guys.

Part-exchange Price:
Excellent condition:
£5290
Average condition:
£4760
Below average condition:
£4270

According to the Glass's/ Vauxhall valuation thinger.

Bit cheap for a main dealer, but even so the way prices are continuing to tumble I wouldn't be that surprised. Anything with an engine capacity of more than 2 litres is dropping like a stone at the moment.

Hi, i recently bought a 2.0 Tfsi A3 with DSG, the main thing to check is the DSG box, it can have problems and is expensive to repair / replace, so make sure you give it some stick, changes should be near instant on the A3, in auto mode though, i've found if i'm cruising at 60 in 6th and theres someone doing 50 on an NSL, when you put your foot down, it takes about a second to react and change gear so bear that in mind, apart from that i cannot fault my A3, it's a good solid well built car and i wouldn't part with mine :)

Just bear in mind if you buy a yellow one you'll have a very hard time selling it. Probably why this one is cheap. Still seems a bargain to me though.

I dont think the colour will matter by the time he wants to sell no one will want a car that old with a 3.2 engine(not knocking the car BTW).

The 3.2 is available with both other engines aren't.

You can get the 2.0T and S3 DSG Q now.

The reason for the low price is due to the road tax and used car values, ie. Why pay 15k for a 3.2 V6 or R32 when you can get an M3 with better performance? Good thing is you can get bargain 3 litre + engines now.

Aside from the usual DSG and vehicle checks remember you are buying a vehicle that will suffer depreciation, limited mpg (over the 2.0T) and if the DSG goes wrong it will be an expensive fix.
