Hey, what do you guys think of these specs for my new build?

-Intel Core2Quad Q6600 8MB 2.40Ghz 1066FSB
-Corsair 4GB XMS2 DDR2 6400
-Asus P5Q Deluxe Intel P45
-BFG GeForce GTX 280 OC 1GB GDDR3
-Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache
-Coolermaster Real Power 1000W Modular Silent
-Windows Vista Premium 32Bit

since your not using SLi, as your MB doesnt allow you to, i would get a lower power PSU about 500W will be enough.

Go for Vista 64Bit.
Consider getting a higher clocked Dual Core
You only need a 650W PSU for that card at best.
Consider a X48 Motherboard.

no point in x48 unless your intrested in crossfire with high end cards

Im pretty sure that the mobo is alright for the moment...and getting a big psu will help to 'future proof' it wont it?
Also, would prefer to get a quad core for the future too

. How much does a q6600 oc to without epic cooling?

you can probs get about 2.8 ghz out of it without a serious rise in temps with stock cooling, with semi-decent air cooling 3.2 should be easy while keeping temps low

a bigger psu will help you futureproof, however a 1000W will only truly be of any use if you decide to get some serious amount of hardware such as sli or crossfire
