I've reinstalled Windows recently and I'm having trouble getting back online. I've got a BT home hub which is connect to my PC via USB, all the relevant lights are on and it must recognise that it's connected as it goes through the tests ok when installing the software.

However, once that's done, the Hub Manager says that it can't find the hub and keeps coming up with the message saying "no default gateway". I know that the hub is working as my laptop connects to it fine wirelessly. I must've done this a million times before but I just can't work out where I'm going wrong, any ideas?

question: why in the world would you connect via usb? surely your pc has an ethernet port?

(sorry this isn't a more helpful post. i'm not familiar with the homehub. :o)

I think ethernet is always best no messing about always connected then. A cable is only a couple of pounds from a local shop. Id strongly advise getting one!

The biggest benefit of using ethernet is you don't need any software (OS and network card drivers aside).

I see, I'll think about swapping if I ever get the bloody thing working again then. Can anyone offer me any advice on that front?
