Six CPUs involved

Intel will cut the prices of some products on October 19th. Core 2 Quad Q8200 with its 2.33GHz clock will be first on the list and it will drop from $224 to $193.

Superstar Quad -core Q6600, a good old 65nm 2.4GHz CPU with 8MB cache and the most popular quad-core of all time, will drop from its current $193 to $183.

Intel will introduce a new CPU called E7400 with FSB 1066, 2.8GHz clock and 3MB cache and this dual-core will sell from October 19th for $133. At the same time E7300 with FSB 1066, 2.66GHz clock and 3MB cache will drop from current $133 to $113.

Pentium dual-core E2220 with its 2.4GHz dual core clock, 1MB cache and FSB800 will drop from $84 to $74. The last one to get cheaper on this given Sunday is Pentium dual-core E2200 at 2.2GHz dual core clock, 1MB cache and FSB800 will drop from $74 to $64.

Therefore, if you wanted any of these CPUs you better wait for the 19th, and since the 19th is Sunday it's highly likely that you will be able to buy them as of Monday from e-tailers, maybe even from Sunday at these prices.

The next significant price cut is expected on the 30th of November.

Those are some pretty weak price cuts :)
It's like saving $10 on shipping and getting 2 week+ shipping method instead... not something I'd opt in for :)

Thanks for posting though!

Hi there

OcUK is already selling below the price drop prices on the Q6600's ;)

Let me prove to you:-
New Q6600 Price = $183, so $183 divided by 1.76 exchange rate = £103.99 + Taxes.

Look at OcUK's This Week Only price which is £101.99+VAT which makes us already below Intel new price drop price. :)

Plus were even cheaper on the OEM!

So as I say OcUK is already at the new prices on the Q6600 Processors, infact were cheaper! :)

So does that mean that when they reduce the prices at Intel then you may be able to offer an even better discount to your customers?

Dream on. If that was the case they would'nt be charging £258 for the base core i7 cpu when Intel seels them for $285.

but thats pre-order, if you have the money to pay that much then thats that..

surely it would drop once all others sell it, and the people who buy it asap will no doubt complain ... AGAIN!

I want a Q6600 but not wanting to pay more than £100 inc VAT and P&P. Not sure how long I'm going to have to wait. Hope not too long though!

Buy one second hand then, its probably going eol during the next quarter.

I can't see them ending production on their best selling quad. The prices on the 45nm's are considerably higher.

Do agree about getting one second hand, you can look for a good clocker that way.

The bottom 45nm will just drop down to the Q6600 price point, actually I don't think the price difference is supposed to be massive at the moment there is just a lot of grey Q6600 around, the same will happen to the lowest 45nm quad when the Q6600 is gone.
