Well, i sold my account woot :D

then my mate tells me on the way back from stanstead in the car "oh, btw, you played the new death knight class yet?" "ummm, nope, lich king isnt out yet" "they released 3.0 patch, the class is in the game, lich king is just content"...

bugger sprung to mind :(

I was wondering 2 things, 1) is this true? 2) anyone able to send a invite of some sort of new account friend thingy, like a trial thing, you get a bonus and so do i if i decide to keep the account. Really cant afford to spend 30 odd quid on a new account just to test a class out lol

You'll have to buy WoW + BC + WOTLK in order to try DK, no trial for the new content. :p

It's not true yet no, the new patch with lots of Lich King features is out on October 14th but the Death Knights and Northrend retain their November 13th release.

Have some DK footage. :)

patch 3.0 aint out plus i dont think you can play the dk anyway as it unlocks at level 80 :P

unless they have the dk on the ptr (hmm goes and has a look)

To Play a Deathknight you need at LEAST a level 55 character on your account (which has to be a World of Warcraft + Burning Crusade + Wrath).

It's not unlocked at level 80.

If you get WoW now, and the exp pack you could have a level 70 by the new exp pack.

Meh, now i remember him saying something about having a lvl 55 on my account (had several 70's).

No point then, plus from the vids, the DK class looks boring :(

Rogue was the only class that i enjoyed (mutilate forever :D hated SS spamming rogues)

You can get your old account back no problem.

Just go to blizzards website, support and report your account hacked.

As long as you can provide the CD key and other proof of identity like a utility bill, they'll check your account and get you it back.

That's very dishonest, If you take money for something and agree to it you are essentially stealing the money if you renege on your agreement in this fashion.

With the money you get from selling the account you should be able to buy the game again and get to lvl 55 before WOTLK is out, then roll a DK...

Great idea! Sell something then claim it was stolen. Very honest

too cool for a conscience aswell it seems....

The accounts arent supposed to be sold in the first place, it would.. techincally be fraud, but the crux of it is - the person who bought the account doesnt have a leg to stand on, as they bought something that techincially shouldnt / cant be bought etc

Horrible really, i have a few friends who have done the same, there is no way i could live with myself after doing it though.

That would reflect even more badly on the person selling the account, since it's them that accepted the terms of use, not the person buying it.

It would be most definitely some form of fraud as you would be dishonestly taking someones cash.

Deserve to have their accounts suspended at the very least.

I don't care if people want to sell their accounts (although it was frowned upon in my guild) as I can't see why they shouldn't make some money for all the effort they put in after they decided not to play the game. Likewise not that bothered about people buying them, for some game only starts at when they hit the level limit with instancing and the like, so why should they sacrifice a lot of their spare time to get there if they have some spare cash. Of course that's where some companies came in and affected the game for some people who play the game, but hey that's life in an MMO.

Sometimes Blizzard ban accounts for doing it, i remember a guy who sold a £2000 Rogue, blizzard noticed a flurry of different IP's from the user and changes in details and so on, and the account ended up being banned - in which case the buyer still loses out.

Its a really bad idea to buy accounts full stop, i can see why people do it but there is always going to be that risk - if the seller has a conscience or not.

Sadly, it seems most of them dont.

I couldn't think of a worse time to sell your wow account :P

I sold it 4 months into TBC when not raiding, now i play a rogue which i started using at lvl70 at the start of S3 and im happy ive done it :D

Rogues are now awesome to play and warlocks all dull.

If selling the account is in fact illegal then a contract can't exist between seller and buyer therefore the buyer can't actually do anything if you take the account back off him. Of course you've then performed an illegal act yourself and he could report you to blizzard.

I doubt it is in fact illegal though, just against blizzards TOS. It'd be blurry but I'd say the buyer would actually have a chance if brought to court. Atleast to get his money back as the buyer could claim he wasn't informed of the TOS. A contract still exists for the seller to give the account to the buyer in exchance for x sum of money. That contract would only be broken if the act was illegal. So really you're down to whether it's illegal or just against Blizzards rules.

If I did buy an account and it was taken back off me then first thing I'd do would be inform blizzard to get the account banned then look into what legal action you could take to get the persons real name and address from blizzard then do the rest through small claims. If he was living close enough of course :)

Of course it's illegal!

The nature of who owns the WoW account and what it says in there T&Cs is totally irrelavent. If the sellar then takes the account back he's taking money from someone dishonestly, ergo criminal fraud!

Well I sold mine, and I certainly wouldnt try to scam it back.

Also, It probably will only take about a month or 2 of casual play to get a character to lvl 80 in WOTLK should i decide to go back(although i have no intention)

Any gear from lvl 70 wont be worth jack

good thing is if u want to try a death night just go buy wow+woltk play a hunter to lvl 70 its so easy to do, a few days of play with the seriously hight xp now thats all u need for a death night when woltk comes
