I'm currently experiencing a new problem that never really happened to me before, so I am completely clueless. I've tried to search for solution/similar posts regarding to this problem on this forum or google but had no avail, therefore it left me with no choice but to start a thread regarding USB mouse causing BSOD when plugged in.
I own a Dell XPS 1710M gaming laptop (Core2Duo 2Ghz, 2GB Mem) running Windows XP, SP3 which is now 2 years old and the problem started recently. Basically whenever I plug in a mouse, whether it is a wireless one or a standard microsoft optic mouse, it takes me straight to BSOD. A simple test also showed that the 3G mobile broadband dongle also will cause a BSOD. However, memory stick are working completely fine. (non-executable memory)
I've tried to boot my pc up with the USB mouse plugged in, it took me to the window's loading screen then BSOD happened after the loading screen is done. I've tried to boot up in safe mode, which ends in same fate as before. Also BSOD will happen if I try to plug-in the mouse in whilst in safe mode.
I've got a total of 6 USB ports on my laptop, all of them are getting the same reaction. I've uninstalled many potiential softwares and checked device manager(no error suggested in device manager) but had no clue what I can do from there.
Any input from you guys would be great
