Hopefully this patch fixes my CTD when blowouts start! Happens at the exact same time on my save file, no matter what area I'm in at the time.
Did notice the line: "- fixed crash (task_objects.script:2231: attempt to call global 'blowout_hit_with_pp_and_cam_effectors' (a nil value))"
Mentions blowouts, hopefully this is what I need

You can loot the AK off of some bandits, although when you enter Cordon at the entrance where the army shoot at you, go back to the swamp and in that little camp at the end of the tunnel, there are a couple of AK's on the ground I think. And to upgrade weapons with a scope, you need to find the upgrade guy who is willing to learn it, then locate the flash stick with the detais on it for him.

No, you buy the scope or find it. It is not an upgrade. Viper does not have a scope.
Can't seem to find any of the upgrade flash drives anywhere (apart from when you get one for completing a mission). I've searched all the stashes on my radar and the only thing of any value found was a silenced pistol.
any pointers.

Steam now patched to 05. 
Christ, what's with that factory mission after talking with the scientist in Yantar?
You're expected to traverse a large distance with full PSI emissions, thus needing a medkit about every 10 seconds (plus the zombies getting the odd shot in).
I've now installed a cash trainer to get a better suit and a few more health packs, and it's still near impossible - don't know what the developers were thinking
Edit: Ok, I'm an idiot Instead of getting the PDA at the entrance and returning it to the scientist I tried to go through the gates and Rambo through the area, with fatal results! Have gone back to a pre-cheat save and I feel pure again

I just had a problem similar to this but realised that i didnt actually need bandages, i need those injection things and the bleeding stopped! I wonder if this 'bug' everyone is moaning about is actually down to stupidity
So ive got it running at 1920x1200, DX10 Full lighting, everything up full and getting between 25-60fps ... but i cannot get AA to work
Does AA work for anyone? AHAA - AA kicks in after restarting the game ..... making it totally unplayable LOL 
Also, something im finding a bit confusing - At trading points the prices are all messed up, like when i hover over a weapon it will cost say 5000, but when i try to buy it, it 7500
Is that right?Apart from some weird stuff and some fx glitches ive encountered sometimes when it rains (fixed by saving and loading the point), im totally loving the game, so i say get it installed boyo!
Simply stunning at times, the whole real-time sun effect, especially at sunrise just has me stopping to take in the view. This game is soooooo much better than Warhead!

Is it that the 5000 is the item 'value' but 7500 is the cost at that trader?

That will be it, swindling swines! They dont give you much for weapons you sell them either.
I think I am very near the end now, where you have the teleport portals. Its quite difficult as I have rubbish armour.
same here i have no health packs my armour is as much use as tissue and not helped by the fact the clear sky guy gives me a weapon to start the mission with that makes me have too much stuff so i cannot move and im getting shot to bits whilst trying to throw stuff away so i can move again.

Wish i knew you would need lots of health and bandages before i entered limansk because i was struggling for hours in the hospital and trying to take a chopper down with my ak47 with no health packs and many many enemies
Yep - Patches are "standalone" and not incremental.
I.E. You dont have to install the game, then the 1.5.03 patch then 1.5.04 then 1.5.05.
Just install the game then install the latest patch which is .05 at the mo'.
I know I said a page or two back that I had given up with this game, but I loved it so much that curiosity got the better of me.
I initially tried just installing the 1.5.05 patch over my original Stalker CS install, which had both previous patches installed as well as the community scripts mentioned earlier which were supposed to help with crashes. I also attempted to load up a couple of saved games from the game running 1.5.04, none of which worked ( just gave me the usual CTD ).
However, this time, I completely uninstalled, reinstalled the game and fresh patch to 1.5.05. I also decided to start completely from scratch and forget my old "compatible" saved game progress.
Dont want to speak to soon, but it seems to have done the trick.
Gameplay is very smooth, runs at a good high detail level with good FPS and so far, no crashes at all. Not one.
So to those who are still having issues with crashes even after the latest patch, try a completely fresh install and start from the beginning again, hopefully that should do the trick.
Oh, and "admission time" - I did use a trainer during my first attempts, this time I've decided to resist the temptation just in case giving me 999999 RU's also had something to do with the crashes to desktop, can't be sure but didn't want to take the chance.
