What Motivates you to go to the Gym??

Because i know if i dont go, i will just get fatter. And erm...Well, thats not good :p

On a more serious note; Im trying to get playing football at a higher level again, and i need the fitness + strength for that. So yeah, my only proper reason is for football.

1) My body isn't what I want it to be yet, I still want to be a lot bigger
2) My strength isn't what I want it to be yet, I still want to be a lot stronger
3) I enjoy it

Sounds about right though I would add:

I love the buzz I get from it, I mean when I REALLY push myself and kill myself, the endorphines are addictive. I get a huge sense of achievement and the adrenaline is hard to match.

I like to catch up with people down there, it also helps me reduce/remove the stress of the day.

This is exactly how I feel about it. :)

I've been back into it for about two months after not going for about six years. I'm trying some exercises I never used to do before aswell, I never used to do free weight squats, I used to leg press and hack squat, but after trying it a few weeks ago I found it's an enjoyable exercise and I'm seeing a fair bit of improvement aswell, up to two 20kg plates each side now :)

Nice :)

I think it's important to change your exercises regularly and your routine every 8-12 weeks, not just for physical reasons, but it helps mentally.

I'll resist a massive list and just put the best ones up:

-When I'm there, I don't think about anything else, it's like my awesome, albeit sweaty, reflective space
-I LOVE the buzz when I'm training and how I feel when I know I've rinsed myself
-How alive and fast I feel in day to day life, how I can run, sprint, catch things
-It makes me happy all the time
-I feel like I'm part of an exclusive 'fit people' club and feel all snobby :p

Ant

Things that motivate me/make me want to go are:

1) The pumped feeling I get after lifting heavy
2) I enjoy seeing the results
3) Feeling good about my body gives me confidence
3) Its great to get away from everything for an hour or so and not think about anything (great stress relief from work)
4) I've been doing it so long its just become routine
5) Looking at people who are out of shape
6) Actually recieveing compliments from people as well

I have goals to ultimately shift over 600kg in the big 3, and maintain a lean 100kg frame and just push my body and test it and hurt myself as much as possible.

I have no motivation to go in the sense that I can't be bothered, so I tend to see it as a detour on the way home.

However when I'm there I love it. So when there I'm motivated to put the work in because:

1. Know its doing me good.
2. Feel much better about myself even if gains are small.
3. Glad I'm not wasting time sitting watching TV/surfing at home.
4. That one day I'll reach my goals.

Nothing. I can't motivate myself because I have so little time in the evenings I don't feel like spending up to an hour doing something I do not enjoy :(

I know how you feel mate. It took me years to get myself into gear.

Problem for me is my mate can't make it anymore so I'm always traing on my own. We used to push each other where as no if I can't be bothered I only put half the effort in.

Just bought an iPod to keep me amused.
