New jacket still tagged - Help!

Unless you have a magnet just crack the top bulb type bit of it with some pliers and then fiddle with it... easy... done it many a time!!!
Unless its one of those dye ones then definately do not do this!

Wet the garment/pocket and use a soldering iron to melt a single slit through the plastic, then twist and break? Have a deskfan nearby to blow the fumes away from you/your coat.

I dunno lol :D

This happened to be when I bought a coat from Blacks about a year ago, still had a plastic tag inside.

I got a flat head screw driver and prised open the gap between both bits of tag and the jacket just enough, to get a pair of pliers inside and cut the metal, then it just came off :)

However, be careful, I wouldn't recommend this if you aren't 100% confident about how to do it, most tags have ink inside and it will spill if you break it wrong.

Did you not set off any alarms when you walked out of the shop?

And as mentioned, you need a strong magnet and place it on the plastic end of the device.

I really wouldn't try to remove it. It'll look even more dodgy when you take it back if it's been hacked to ****!

Some security tags have ink / dye in them so when you try to break them off they mark the garment with purple ink. Take it back to the shop to be on the safe side.

When I worked for a competitor the people I worked with stuck about twenty security tags to a game I bought and the bag they put it in. I then promptly made my way up to Oxford Street for some shopping - only to set the alarm off in every store. By about the fifth shop the security guard stopped me and made me explain myself - he even checked on his computer that no shop was reporting anything stolen. :(

The trick we used was to get those sticky security tags found on cds and dvds and leave them sticky side up on the floor ready for your victim to tread on them! :p

PK!
