Guinness when served properly is one of my favourite all time drinks. The trouble is though, getting a pint of it served properly in England is nigh on impossible. Not enough people drink it in England therefore it spend it's time sitting in the pipe and becomes stale and metallic. Despite the claims that it is brewed in Dublin, I am led to believe that it is shipped over in concentrate form and water is added once it hits English shores.
It just isn't the same. Funny enough, even though the Guinness in New York tastes very different from that in Ireland, I much preferred it to the Guinness in England.
If Murphys or Beamish are on tap and flowing well I prefer either of them. It's a rare sight outside Ireland though.
