Got 2gb mem, should I switch from xp32 to xp64?

Hey,

I'm just in the process of formatting my computer.

Currently on XP 32-bit. Is it worth switching to XP 64-bit if I only have 2gb ram?

I understand from various threads that XP64 is great, but I dont know if that applies to me with only 2gb ram.

Also, its pretty hard searching this forum for "xp", "32" and "64"

Edit: more info if it helps: Socket 754 (AGP) hence the low ram, x9150 gfx and amd 3000+. its an old PC, but I have no intention of upgrading for a good year or so..

In my opinion, no.

If you are looking at getting more RAM, and you have the hardware to run it, then Vista 64-Bit without question.

as much as i love xp64, unless you also have 2 4870x2 in your pc i would stick with xp32

64bit uses more RAM than 32bit so you made the right choice

There's no reason what so ever still to this day to swap to vista if you already have xp.

no-body should run any 64bit os with less than 4gb ram

should be in the 'realistic minimum specs', not the 8mb or whatever it is MS suggest
