Just booked to go to Stockholm with some mates in December, and we were wondering what to expect in terms of how much a pint costs or a shot of vodka... and food, eating in a restaurant etc.

So, if anyone thats been recently, or in the past could maybe share their experiences, that would be great :D

Looking forward to it being very cold that time of year too !! :D

I went to Copenhagen with my Girlfriend in September and OMG it is extremely expensive. I know Copenhagen is a different country but they are (insert word i cant remember to describe the (insert word) countries in the area)

Food is very expensive but very nice. I dont drink so i cant comment on that but all i can tell you is that the food is mega expensive.

Absolutely fantastic place, i havent a clue price wise as i have slept since then, but it was very expensive, to the extent that most of the people i know from sweden get drunk on store bought booze before going out as it would cost far too much to do the same on the town!

Definitely a trip to remember though, especially if you are with someone special, i suppose just the same with mates, but hey!

I challenge you to find a truly ugly girl in sweden!

I just got back from Stockholm, it's pretty damn awesome.

Expect £4 a pint (or half litre or whatever) at decent bars. Hard liquor will be even more expensive relative to here because access to it is controlled by the government, and reduced prices and special offers are illegal for most, if not all drinks. You won't see any 2 for 1 offers or anything like that.

Food is expensive, if you go for a starter and main with 1 beer at a mid range restaurant it'll be a minimum of £30 per person. Places like McDonalds are pretty cheap just like here, and there are plenty of newsagent-style places that sell sandwiches and drinks, again they are relatively more expensive but not break-the-bank extortionate.

If you're planning on doing some sightseeing or travelling further than walking distance, I highly recommend that you get a 'Stockholm Card', it gets you free transportation on the T-bana (underground train) and free entry to a load of museums and stuff like that: http://www.stockholmtown.com/templates/StockholmsCard____9989.aspx?epslanguage=EN

My top tip for something to do is to take the ferry out into the archipelago, a return trip to Vaxholm will cost about 140 crowns, £12 or thereabout, to go further out to Sandhamn or Moja will cost about twice that but it's well worth it.

I lived in Uppsala just outside Stockholm for 6 months and had the time of my life. I was contracting with all expenses paid, so cost of going out was not at the fore-front of my mind but it was fairly expensive.

A beer cost between £4-7 depending on what it was and where you drank it. Meals p/p vary hugely, again depending on where you eat it. Spirits cost more.

My tip would be to think of an amount of money you would normally take on a holiday with the lads, and add an additional 30%.

And yes, the girls are amazing ;)

Thanks for the tips. Will look into it. Would like to see something nice while im there! As for £4+ a pint... guess it will last a bit longer than usual if theres plenty of hotties about to watch?

i travelled around europe this july and stockholm was our first place, it was one of my favourite. Stayed there 3 nights instead of 2. Its very expensive tho your looking at £4+ a pint and food is rather expensive. Try drinking and eating off the main streets as they are slighty cheaper. Most of europe is expensive now tho :(
You should have a fantasic time tho

I too challenge you to find an ugly swedish girl, you will not win!

i was there about 15 months ago (for one night as we were passing through)

found it hard to find a 'pub' that wasn't an irish/british/austrailian pub :(

managed to find this dingy little one that sold some unknown lager for about €4.00 ~£2.75 ish at the time

sambuca was about €2.50-5.00 in most places, i think a karaoke bar had the cheapest.. we just went in for shots, then left
