What is your dress code at work (office peeps)?

Dress trousers, Shoes and a shift.
If someone really important is attending the office ties too.

Every last friday of the month is dress down.. but at the moment due to charity and that we have had every friday for the last few months

I've worked in quite a few offices and it has varied from wearing a suit to just wearing whatever I wanted in terms of casualwear. If you're not customer facing (and unlikely to see a customer at any point) then I don't think it makes the slightest bit of difference, it certainly doesn't to my work ethic. I have met customers in jeans and a t-shirt on several occasions before and no one appears to have thought anything much of it.

Suit even though I don't need to. Shirt and smart trousers (no tie) is acceptable. Unless I am doing something overly active.

surely wearing a suit and tie is out-dated thinking, a suit will never effect the way you work, its the norm, therefore people assume its needed.

It's to do with outward appearance - a company of people in suits will look more professional than people sat in jeans and a T-shirt.

The jeans guys may whoop the suit guys at what they do - but that first impression will always hinder them.

Thats my point though

Smart shirt and trousers is the norm. If doing Interview Under Caution or cautioning then a Tie is always worn. If in court for evidence then the suits come out. Or if we do a home visit then we wear logo'd polo shirts and smart jeans. But I must admit I do like the polo shirts they are far more practical.

Anything really, I normally wear a T-shirt and jeans. Although I do tend to leave my more disturbing t-shirts for outside of work.
