I was thinking about buying an Asus T3 P5G31 barebones system part number: BG-388-AS http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...1 Barebones System - Intel Core 2 Duo (LGA775) I then noticed that they have the same system in the 'B' grade section and but the price was the same as a new system http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...31 Barebones System - Intel Core 2 (FS-054-AS)

I sent the following web note to OcUK:-

Dear OcUK.

You are currently selling a 'B' grade Asus T3 P5G31 barebones system part number: BG-388-AS, the price for this item is £117.49 which is the same price as a new T3 P5G31 part number: FS-054-AS.

I assume that the price of the 'B' grade item is incorrect. Could you please confirm what the price shoud be?

I received the following reply:-

Thankyou for your webnote,
all prices stated on our website for B grade items are correct

Am I missing something here? surely no one will buy a second hand item with a 14 day guarantee for the same price as a new one?

I've also noticed this on many occasions. My theory is that OCUK fear that customers may try and return an item in order to get a full refund and then buy back the 'faulty' item once OCUK have put it in the b-grade section at a reduced price. I once returned a b-grade P5K-E motherboard I bought for £58.74. It turned up back in the B-grade section for £80+, and then the price on it gradually reduced week by week coz no one bought it.

Well thats my theory anyway and I'm sticking to it.

Possibly. They have 10+ 'B' grade barebone systems in stock so either they have had a lot of returns or a lot damaged stock/boxes etc. It's going to take them a very long time to sell them at the current price.

Perhaps the person who sent the web note didn't confirm the price with their superiors....
