BMW X5

I simply cannot understand why they'd quote that - even being generous and allowing 10 hours labour for reinstallation only comes to half that. And usually BMW rates to insurance companies are considerably cheaper than the rates the public pay. Very bizarre! Did he ever get to see a breakdown of the claim costs?

Smashed windows, new door, new dashboard too perhaps. Not something you can steal without causing lots of additional damage I would imagine.

Honestly couldn't say mate. Just remember him banging on about the time it took them and the price they quoted. Funny thing is they took the TV/Satnav whilst his car was parked on his drive, left all the screws in the centre console and closed the doors behind them.

Considerate thieves are all the rage!

Nope they knew what they were doing, cut something in the front wheel arch to disable the alarm etc.

I'm also toying with the idea of going 4x4 and X5 was in the line up. Good to see it not being slated too much in this thread! The latest revision is a looker, I'm really liking it!

2) Intravee/Ipod. This is the best way to do it - it's about £150-£180 + an Ipod for all the kit but it will give you full Ipod integration and control over the Ipod from the cars stereo. It has track listings etc as well. It works with both the MID and the navigation screen but functionality is hugely improved if the car has the navigation screen..

is this something bmw supply or third party. Could be something i can barter in a the deal!

oh dear, hit a bit of a stumbling block!! :mad:ivw just checked online with my insurance company (first alternative) and they will not insure me due to my age, this car and experience. Ive done a mock quote with similar details to mine online and thats what they come out with. This is only my second car insurance policy so im a bit nieve to my options!??

26 fella, its the fact that ive been driving for less than two years thats the problem. I can get isurance for around £1100 from money supermarket just not with my current insurers :(

how long ago did you take out the policy ? unless you'e been with them more than 6 months, id cancel and go elsewhere.

If its more than 6 months, it may be worth biding your time to finish accrusing this years NCB and change come renewal time.

depending upon how much you want the X5 of course. If your not that bothered, just wait till the current policy runs out, then change to an insurer who will take you on for the X5.

Who is your insurer? Directline are renowned for being quite bad for insuring higher risk cars, yet i've been able to get the group 17 330i since 18 and insure it find @ 20 now,

at 26 not allowed an x5 is really bizarre! :s
