Ive been looking for a case to replace my Cavalier 3.

What I need:

Black
very good airflow
Small as possible but still atx
Only really need 1 optical & HDD
120mm fans I like it quiet

Cases ive considered so far (why i ruled them out)

Lian Li X500 (love it but pricy)
Lian Li A05B (air pockets, not the best airflow)
Lancool K7 (No real wow factor)
Mountain Mods H2gO (Love this two but pricy once you get all the bits)
Zalman GT900 (pricy & small front fans)

I like windows as long as there tasteful ie over the mobo area only.

I dont mind modding but am in uni halls so only light modding is possible.

Any ideas?

Hiya Mate,

I cant praise the A05b enough....it really is a great looking case and i am a firm believer in there is no such thing as a perfect case....you have to make it into the perfect case.

Prior to my build i had no modding experience at all and i am now very happy with the results i have achieved, both cooling wise and the overall look of the case.

With regards to the air pocket issue, you are able to buy the blower whuch sits above the graphics car and takes the warm air from the top of the case out of the back.

Because you only need 1 HDD you could remove the HDD caddy no problems.

Good luck

easy really antec 300 for cheap but great, could suggest pricier ones such as the silverstone fortress but no idea on budget.

I have the antec 300 - and its a fantastic case for the money!

Keeps everything cool (with just the 2 standard case fans!) , and plenty of room to whack ya stuff in!

Plus looks good too. :)

I can assure you that case will be far from "solid"

based on what exactly?

I haven’t seen any reviews yet & its only available in the US at present.

The Lian li 7 & its variations is a popular & well liked case why is this any different?

What are you basing your assurance that, it is far from solid on?

based on what exactly?

Based on specs on their website and previous experience with pc7 style cases with matching specs. I'm assuming as the panel/material specs are exactly same then this will be no different. Thin panels and a cheap feel about it.

As for it being popular i'm sure it will be, that doesn't mean I have to agree its a good case.

been looking at the

LIAN LI PC-A59B
Lian Li V600

Sadly both would force me to use a low profile cpu cooler due to psu postioning:(

Coolermaster CM960?
I love mine, its big....bigger than my Lian Li PC7, but it has 120mm placements all over it, lovely black grill finish.
There is a nvidia one' the case is black with the bright green nvidia logo on it and it looks sweeeet! About £70 i think. Airflow is really good, nice neon blue 120mm intake at the front. PSU sits in the bottom

Does anyone rate the Stacker cases from CoolerMaster? Hope so as I've got one and I love it...never really tested the airflow, but with about five fans in the case I've never had a problem with overclocking or hot components!

There is no such thing as the "perfect" case. Nothing is perfect and everything can allways be improved :p

So just look for a case that meets your needs the most and buy it

Its a toss up between the

Lian Li PC-A06B & Lian Li PC-A05B

With the deciding factor being weather or not I can change the lighting on the A06B cant find many owners of it tbh.

Lian Li V600

I’ve ruled this out simply due to psu placement & does need an internal powder coat to look decent due to grill effect.

Whatever case I decide upon I will mod it over the summer thinking double blowhole, window & powder coat. But until then I will have to like it enough with simple light changes etc.

Am surprised there inset more cases of this size due to the popularity of the A05.

BTW because there basically the same case could you fit a 1000w corsair in?

I’ve seen lots of 520w & 620w in but there 14/15cm compared to 20cm for the 1000w.

Got to be the a05 then. saw a couple in person yesterday and I was very impressed.
