Reading about all these reviews and people saying crysis is a ******** to play decently.

Is this really true and what are acceptabel frame rates?

Because after buying the latest crysis then i am able to play at 23fps (min) 27(max) all at the highest settings (that you can with xp) with my rig! Im pleased with it lol

What others get?

99% fine for me and I run 1280x1024 max detail, AA and AF on my Athlon rig.

Benchmarks around 37fps.

plays fine for me all maxed out, people who complain about it running bad are the same people who run games with fraps to check their FPS all the time.
if it's playable it's not really necessary to know your framerate

How come people with Athlon rigs still get like really good frame rates in new games!

Im running:

Q6600 @3.6 (450*8)
BFG 8800GTX OC2 (640/2140)
2GB Reaper PC6400 (900mhz)
And game at 1680*1050

Because it's still a great platform, if 3dmarks and scores don't mean much to you then you can still play all games at a decent setting.

Glad to see the responses on this - I am just getting a new (bought off MM Computer) after 18 months without.
It's an x6800 with 2 gigs of ram and an 8800 GT... I figured it was going to be enough to play almost anything out now. Looks like I should be OK :)

Ohh and on reading around - @3ghz+ it's normally graphics cards causing bottlenecks on game performance not CPU.
Though that is only from reading not from experience.

play crysis, then play tf2

i'd much rather have the fps of tf2 and cartoony exposions in crysis :D

Benchmarks do mean a lot in performance of my rig! And yes i can play every game at high fps and high settings! i just thought crysis was supposed to be worse on performance than it actually is lol

I get 40FPS average at 1920x1200 on Vista in Direct X 10 mode on Very High settings.

When I had an 8800GTX that was 11fps... so I would say it brings systems to their knees.

At 1280x1024 loads and loads of rigs can play it, what the fuss is about is Maxed settings at high res.

My rig plays anything I throw at it, full detail, nothing wrong with the Athlon and never has been.

i can play at 1680x1050 @ high (not very high :o) with specs in sig. and this is on xp64. vista really kills it. even dropping the res to 1280x800 doesn't seem to help. :(

If you playing in 1280x1024 then a 8800gt will do the job fine, start pumping the rez up and you in trouble, i always thought crysis was kinda cpu limited so no matter what you have it won't help that much, other games on the other hand they do make a difference, imo a better gfx card makes the better choice over a cpu.
