Whats your view? Love it? Hate it?

I bought it when it came out but i've only just got around to listening, it's growing on me but it just seems missing a certain.. something.

Its missing nothing, its pretty much modern metal perfection.

I'm not saying its my favourite album, but none the less it is fantastic.

Aesthetics of Hate, Beautiful Mourning (despite 'weird' drums at the start) and Wolves are stunning. Not sure about the album as a whole though...

I'd agree. I think people got the wrong impression from my post, I really like the album and would say it's very good on the whole, I just can't go as far as saying it's "perfect".

I like it, but I think some of the songs have bits that are rehashes of their older songs. Too many boring grinding riffs aswell, although I really like A Fairwell to Arms, Halo and Asthetis of Hate. Better than the other albums bar Burn my Eyes.

I don't know what it is about Machine Head but I just don't quite get them. I find their music boring for some reason. Even though I like a few of their songs and theoretically their music ticks all the boxes on my list of musical requirements it just doesn't quite hit the spot.

I got the Blackening off iTunes on the back of some epic reviews and after going to the Black Crusade tour and seeing how everyone was suddenly MENTALLY in to machine head, almost slayer-esque fanaticism.

I think it's the atmospheric passages which I find to be predictable and uninteresting, and the moping quality of the music. I don't deny that Flynn was severely mistreated but I can only listen to so much wallowing miserable sludgey resentment.

What am I missing about them that everyone else gets?
