Hey guys,

Opened up my case today only to notice that my Audigy Xfi's heatsink has detached as per my pics :(

Any ideas how I should re-attach it? What sort of adhesive to use etc. I'd probably give the chipset a quick clean with my cpu cleaner before any re-attaching :)

Cheers,

SW.

or... normal arctic silver on 99% of the chip, but put a small dot of regular superglue at each corner of the chip and then hold until the glue dries. Sorted, you can also if you want mix in the AS with glue to make your own epoxy, but I don't know the ratios, a spot in each corner will probably work better!

The original graphics cards didn't have heatsinks. Fancy running a 4870 without its heatsink?

do most people take the performance hit and run onboard sound these days?

i had to for a while, the difference in sound quality between the xfi and my realtekhd was pretty drastic

deffo worth getting an xfi music or xonar dx, they're about £50 ish each

i care more about the sound quality than the 1-10% ingame performance increase

I've just taken delivery of an M-Audio card... I was pretty impressed with the onboard audio (coming from an Audigy Platinum :D) on my Asus P5K but am seriously looking forward to trying this new card. I was always a bit of a "pft, onboard sound" snob until I heard the onboard Realtek chip... onboard stuff is pretty good these days.

I'm using Vista 64... with an M-Audio card... good luck to me eh?

Artic Thermal Expoxy is pretty good. I used it to stick on a chipset cooler after my ring mounts fell out.

Id love to oc my X-Fi lol

Almost as good as ocing my router.
